A MAN has shared the embarrassing story behind his moniker, which has left him feeling like ''a walking dad joke''.
When it comes to finding the perfect name for their kids, most parents will spend hours coming up with a lengthy list.
But it seems that one father decided to take a rather creative - and unusual - approach when naming his third kid, pulling out the ultimate ''dad joke''.
Taking to Reddit, the now grown-up son said: "My name is not all that ridiculous - Alson.
''But the reasoning behind it is just downright silly.
''I'm the youngest of three boys; So not long after I was born and having to think of a name, my extremely creative dad was like, 'Hmmm! I have all sons...'.

''Thanks for the lifetime of 'Allison'? misconceptions, Dad! I am a livin', breathin', walkin' dad joke..."
Although fellow Redditors couldn't help but laugh at the hilarious story behind his bizarre moniker, others took to share their own embarrassing names.
One user said: "You are a dad joke..."
Another chimed in: "I have a normal name (David) but it stems from a joke about a Harley David Son Motorcycle.

''As in 'I may not have a Harley, but at least I have a David Son'."
A third added: "A friend of mine recently entered a pageant where one of the contestant's names is Crystal Veth.
''I will never not find that hilarious."
Someone else, meanwhile, shared: "My mum had two cats when she had me and joked she was going to name me Kitty so she could go to the back door at the end of the day and just yell 'Here Kitty, kitty, kitty' to call everyone inside."
This comes after one dad recently realised why naming his daughter Penny is sure to set her up for ''a life of ridicule''.
According to the horrified parent, other adults have been using a horrible nickname for the poor kid - Penny Pincher - all because her last name also starts with a P.
Are Unique Baby Names Worth The Hassle?
Fabulous' Deputy Editor reveals the turmoil she faced with her own name while growing up.
When I was a child, all I wanted was one of those personalised keyrings with my name on it.
But no joy, the closest I could find was Rosie, Joseph (not great for a little girl) and Joanne.
Josie is short for Josephine, which is a French name, and I managed to reach my 20s without ever meeting anyone who shared it.
When I try to introduce myself to people, I get all sorts of random things - like Tracey and Stacey - which can be pretty annoying.
Although I have come into contact with a couple of Josies over the last year - there seems to be a few of us around my age - it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends have.
On the whole I don’t mind it, at least it’s not rude or crazily spelt.
And it means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just referring to myself as Josie.
I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my surname, as it’s not seen as very cool or feminist to do so these days, but I explain to them that I’m not that attached to Griffiths as I’d always just say ‘hi it’s Josie’ when ringing a mate up.
I think it’s nice to be unique and I’ll definitely try and replicate this when naming my own kids.
It’s the rude names you’ve got to watch out for, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist I’ll definitely be avoiding those.
''It's seriously gotten to the point where I can't unhear it. I'm devastated thinking I've stricken my daughter for a life of ridicule.
"Am I overreacting? Is being called a 'penny pincher' something school kids would even say or is it just old grandmas?"

Although the term - which is used to describe a stingy person - is typically considered to be a negative trait, fellow Reddit users assured the father that this nickname wouldn't stick amongst peers.
They insisted that while most adults are aware of this term, ''penny pincher'' isn't something younger kids would pick up and use themselves.
