A Chinese medicine expert shared the acupressure trick she swears by for boosting growth.

In her viral , user Tianyu Zhang () demonstrated the simple technique for her followers.

The Instagram user held up her hand with her palm facing away from her.

She told her followers to focus their attention on the joint at the top of their pinky finger.

Tianyu pinched the area with her opposite hand and pressed down on it for three seconds.

After counting it out, she advised her audience to repeat the move 36 times.

The social media user clarified in the comments section that 36 is considered to be a magical number in Chinese medicine.

In Chinese medicine, the number 3 is considered a yang number while 6 is a yin number so they are balanced.

The Chinese also consider multiples of 3 to be lucky numbers, making the number 36 twice as lucky.

She then moved her hand to the lower joint of her pinky finger and carried out the same process again.

"Acupress the other hand too and do this whole set at least twice a day," she recommended.

She explained how Chinese medicine experts believe the technique works.

"According to Chinese medicine, our hair health is related to our kidney energy," Tianyu said.

She added that the exercise unblocks the kidney energy and helps regain hair health.

Her Instagram followers shared their thoughts on the recommendation in the comments section.

"So good!! These two points are also great for frequent urination, nighttime urination, and an overactive bladder due to kidney deficiency too," pointed out one viewer.

What causes hair loss?

"Traction alopecia can occur due to tight hairstyles like ponytails, braids, or buns that put stress on the hair follicles.

"Excessive heat styling or chemical treatments can also damage hair.

"Also, certain medications, like chemotherapy drugs, blood thinners, and some antidepressants, can cause hair loss as a side effect."
