WHILE most women might wince at the idea of wearing sheer clothes, 60-year-old Trinny Woodall doesn’t.
So much so, the fashion expert is urging other women to give the risque fashion statement a go and has even created a guide on styling translucent fabrics.
The relationship that women have with our bodies is in “constant flux”, she says, due to factors like childbirth, hormones and even the weather.
But this shouldn’t stop us from experimenting with fashion - even if trolls say it’ll make us look like “mutton dressed as lamb”.
Trinny, whose real name is Sarah-Jane, knows this all too well but refuses to let negative opinions stop her.
She opened up on Grace Beverley’s Working Hard, Hardly Working podcast about being trolled after posting a “closet confessions” YouTube video about styling sheer clothes.

“I like to continuously challenge my belief systems,” she says.
“There’s some I lean into but there’s others I want to challenge, so it was about wearing sheer.
“I tried on all these things and I was excited because in the privacy of my own home, I loved the feeling it gave me.”
But once she pressed upload on the video, Trinny was met with criticism.

“There was lots of ‘mutton dressed as lamb’ and lots of comments on my body - not all positive,” she says.
“I got home and I’d seen that thing go up in the morning, but I hadn’t looked at it because I’d had a really busy day.
“There was like 700 comments or something.
“I looked through and thought, ‘god, that is so weird’.
“I was really quite shocked.”
Trinny further revealed that she has trained herself to have “compassion” for trolls as she believes they must be going through something difficult to leave nasty comments.
How to look chic on a budget
Fashion stylist Gemma Rose Breger, and beauty journalist Samantha Silver revealed how you can make your outfits elevated without spending hundreds of pounds.
- Don't ever spend on designer denim: River Island ''always has such a great selection with fashion- forward jeans that follow the current trends''. The high street retailer offers a great range of sizes to fit UK 6 - UK 18, and three leg lengths - and prices start from an affordable £25.
- There are no rules for jewels: ''Pick up something at a car boot sale, or charity shop, scroll on Vinted & eBay, snap up something from the clothing section in your local supermarket when doing the food shop or check out high street clothing stores.''
- Don’t forget the pre-loved sites: With a rising number of second-hand sites, such as Vinted and Depop, there really is no excuse of not buying - or selling - pre-loved garments. Gemma, for instance, has managed to get her hands on chic Chanel sunnies for a mere £17.
