ALTHOUGH you definitely don't need shapewear to look your best, sometimes they can give you that added bit of confidence to wear whatever you like.

That's why fashion guru Rosie Henshaw decided to put a few different options to the test to see which gives her the best results without being too uncomfortable.

Posting on YouTube, Rosie tried on five different pairs she's heard great things about to see if they really live up to the hype.

The mum started off by trying on an old bodycon dress with no shapewear on, then put on the first set to see the difference.

She picked up the Magicwear™ Waist Cincher & Thigh Slimmer shapewear from Marks and Spencer for £35.

Size 16-18 Rosie pointed out that the shorts are designed not to roll down thanks to the savvy stitching, but it doesn't always work perfectly.

"I'll be honest with you, unless you're wearing the ones with a strap you're always going to get a little bit of roll," she said.

But apart from the minor amount of rolling, the shapewear was a total winner and instantly smoothed out her figure.

Impressively, they also lifted her bum too, which was the main thing she wanted from the pair.

Next up, she tried on a nude pair from Tesco, which she bought for £14 in a two-pack.

"These are quite good if you're conscious of your bum and your thigh area," she said.

However, since the Tesco ones weren't as high-waisted she noted that they might not be the best if you want to suck in your higher belly.

For anyone wanting a slight smoothing effect without being totally sucked in though, the mum recommended the anti chafe shorts from Marks and Spencer.

Although they won't hold you like the other shapewear options, they're miles more comfortable and will help you feel more secure, as well as stop your thighs rubbing together, Rosie explained.

"These are buttery soft to wear underneath a dress," she said.

For anyone wanting to splash the cash, Rosie tried the Skims Sculpt ruched stretch-woven body, which retails for £72.

Unlike the other shapewear, the Skims is a full bodysuit, so there's no risk if it rolling down.

However, the bra didn't give Rosie, who is a 34G, much support, so she didn't get the lifted look she was after.

The Skims also have a flap so you can use the toilet without having to take off the entire thing, which is an added bonus.

Last, but not least, Rosie put a pair of Skims dupes from Amazon to the test.

The only costs £22 and was a huge winner for Rosie.

"This one is holding my boobs up better," she said.

Not only that, but the Amazon shapewear was loads easier to get on, but still held her in where she wanted the extra support.

"I don't think these would roll up either," she said as she adjusted the short section of the set.

Things went from good to great when she tried the bodycon dress on with the shapewear, "I really feel like this is the winning one," she raved.

And the mum wasn't the only one who loved the Amazon set.

One person commented on the video: "I love that you used the same dress and started with ordinary knickers first.

"The M&S looked great, but the dupes looked really comfy and great as an all in one. You’re so thoughtful taking the extra time to check out more sizes that’s so lovely."

And a second agreed: "The Amazon dupe ones looked really good on you. Easily as good as the Skims."
