Helen Mirren reveals nighttime skincare step she ‘never skips’ – she learned from her youth & now does it ‘religiously’

ACTING legend Helen Mirren has shared the beauty step she swears by since her teenage years.

Long before her shelves were filled with Oscars and Tonys, Mirren learned her go-to skincare technique.

The 79-year-old has a simple trick that she never skips as part of her nighttime routine, reports .

Mirren told the publication that she used to be guilty of a common faux pas when wearing makeup.

"When I was young, I used to go to bed with my mascara on and everything, and in the morning [it] would be all down [my face]," she explained.

However, the English actress revealed that she has since learned her lesson.

"Dirt or makeup left in the pores will make them more noticeable and appear instantly larger," they explained.

The professionals added that your complexion will appear duller and older.

"Not taking your makeup off will age you because makeup mixed with dirt and pollution that builds on the skin can hinder its ability to successfully renew itself at night," they said.

According to the experts, your skin can also begin to look and feel dry if you fail to remove your makeup correctly.

"Leftover makeup residue can prevent the absorption of skincare products by creating a barrier between your skin and any products you are putting on top of it," they explained.

This neglect can lead to irritated skin and even increase the risk of eye infections.

"When left on the skin for long periods of time, these irritants can cause inflammation, irritation, and redness," the pros said.

They pointed out that most people tend to use makeup to cover up these inflammations, continuing the cycle.

Mirren also shared her take on aging as a woman in the showbiz industry.

"My philosophy on aging is, it's going to happen," she explained.

"If you are incredibly lucky, you will get older, and it will be absolutely fine.
