My mum sent me 9 dresses for my wedding but they ALL have the same issue – I keep telling her but it’s not sinking in
We shared a wedding planner's views on guest outfits
EVERY wedding guest should know that there is one rule when it comes to dressing for the big day – don’t upstage the bride by wearing white.
However, one bride-to-be was left shocked when her own mother wanted to wear a near-white dress to her wedding.
Taking to the shocked bride shared a series of dresses that her mum had wanted to choose from for her mother-of-the-bride role.
She asked internet users: “Why is my mum sending these as potential mother of bride dresses?
“Are these way too light in colour or is it just me?”
Among the collection were floor-length lacy dresses in very light shades, and some gowns had pretty floral embellishments too.
The bride said: “Some of these are better than others, I don’t mind the ones that are obviously gold.”
The woman said she had gently tried to steer her mum away from the dresses, but so far it hadn’t worked.
She explained: “I keep making comments like ‘that one is a little too light’ or ‘that looks like it will photograph white’.
“Part of me doesn’t really care because it will be obvious as to who is the bride on my wedding day, but would you be upset about these dresses?”
Many people were quick to chime in with their views on the dresses.
One person wrote: “I would 100000000000% tell my mom absolutely no. Under no circumstances.”
A second commented: “This was literally one of the most frustrating aspects of wedding planning for me because my mom did the same thing – literally sent me a dress in a shade called ‘antique white.’
“They can’t pull this bs about it being off-white, champagne, ivory… IT’S WHITE. “
However, some people said the dresses would be appropriate for the mum to wear.
One person wrote: “A lot of more mature styles only come in 3-4 colors and beige/taupe/champagne is one of them.”
Another added: “Honestly these look fine to me. If your relationship with your mom is ok, I wouldn’t try to take it maliciously.”
Wedding planner shares her views on guests wearing white
A WEDDING planner was fed up after noticing that four women showed up to a ceremony wearing white-hued dresses.
Her annoyance was so great that she couldn’t bite her tongue.
Wedding planner Cari Izaguirre said there is no reason for a guest to ever show up wearing the same colour as the bride.
Speaking about etiquette, she said in a clip: “You do not wear white to a wedding. Or a light ivory. You just don’t do it.”
Standing outside of a reception she organised, she said there were four people sporting looks that crossed the line.
