AN interior designer and stager has revealed the Ikea buys that she can’t stand - as well as the cheap items that you should stock up on.
So if you want your home to leave your guests impressed, you’ll need to listen up and take notes.
Interior decor pro Ana Egger took to social media to share her advice when shopping for homeware in Ikea, and people have praised her ‘super helpful’ tips.
As she was filmed walking around an Ikea store, she shared her clip with the caption ‘Home accessories to look for and avoid at Ikea!!!! Some great finds, for a great price, but also, some overdone pieces.’
She then explained that she loves to buy glassware from Ikea, as they are “really cute”, “trendy” and “super affordable.”
Ana held up some cheap wine glasses as she praised the shape, price and claimed that they would look great on a “floating shelf” or “bar cart”.

Not only this, but also in the glassware section, Ana spotted some stunning champagne style glasses, as she beamed at the “crystal look” and “shape” and claimed that they would look “so pretty on an open shelf”.
As well as this, Ana shared her positive thoughts on the chain’s towels, as she said: “They have some really cute waffle towels that have this fringe on the end, and they're super thin, so I wouldn't use them as actual bath towels, but would be so cute hanging on hooks in a bathroom as more of decor.”
Ana shared that the towels could also pass for a light throw on a couch and claimed that they would look “really cute”.
But Ana wasn’t keen on the chain’s rugs, as she shared: “Something I would avoid at Ikea are the rugs - for the quality, the price just doesn’t seem great to me.”

Instead, Ana recommended Amazon for other great options that are “better quality but the same price”.
Ana was left divided by the lighting in Ikea, as she explained: “One of the reasons I love the lighting here is because they sell the lampshades and the hard wiring separately, so it's super renter friendly if you're renting or you can't afford to do hard wiring and you want more lighting.”
However, she advised: “I would say to stay away from some of the rattan pendants - they’ve just been way overdone. If I see it one more time I'm gonna scratch my eyes out, we were all really into it four years back, but right now, we've been there, we've done that, let's move on.”
Ana was also left divided by the frames, as she claimed: “They are great for a kids' bedroom or an office because they're plastic and they're super affordable and super cheap [but] I wouldn't put them in your living room or your dining room, or anywhere you wanna feel upscale.”

Despite her mirror debacle, Ana praised Ikea’s mirror section, as she raved about the “great price” of the selection.
The interior pro claimed that the small coastal mirrors would be great for a “gallery wall” design.
Trends interior designers hate
IF you want to ensure that your home looks glam, here are the trends that interior designers can't stand.
NO YELLOW: According to Bilal Rehman, yellow paint in a bedroom is a big no no.
He said: “If you want everyone to know you're a horse girl then yellow is perfect for you.”
SIGN OFF: Kelly Hoppen shared her honest thoughts on Live, Love, Laugh signs.
The interior pro explained: “Another gripe of mine - Live, Laugh, Love - those kinds of wooden things that sit on book shelves and floating shelves, that’s so 10, 12, 15 years ago.”
NO GREY YAY: Julie Provenzano explained that grey interiors have been overdone.
She stressed: “We took a good thing and we overdid it to the point that it now feels copy, paste, basic.”
As well as the mirrors, Ana also shared that she “loves” the chain’s vases, as she praised the “great pricing”.
'GREAT TIPS!'
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 785,800 views.
