TODAY’S beauty market is filled with anti-ageing products which claim to “banish wrinkles.”

But some of these products don’t come cheap, and that can be difficult for beauty fans to afford - especially with the current cost of living

However, it may just be as simple as doing a slight tweak to your skincare routine - which can prevent you from forking out on expensive creams.

Laura Dunne, who owns , says you can shave a whole decade off your face through a few simple daily ritual.

She says: “People often think it’s all about investing into your skincare regime, but often forget about caring for their brows and lashes.

“You’d be surprised at how many clients come in to me, and don’t realise how caring for their lashes and brows will actually make them look more youthful.

"When you get older your hair is typically more sparse - which is why a good care routine is important.

"Looking after your lashes and brows on a daily basis will encourage them to become more thicker and hairier which gives a more fresh appearance.

"When I do my clients brows, I can wax them into a certain shape where the ends are higher than the front of the brows which will ultimately create the illusion of a more lifted face.

"It's like a faux face lift. I’ve had clients leave looking ten years younger.”

Laura, who is a, believes that people should be focussing more on how they care for the hairs on their face.

She says: “In my opinion one of the most important things to do is to condition your lashes and brows daily.

“I recommend using a lash serum in the morning, and then a castor oil at night so your lashes and brows are kept hydrated.

“It will also mean your hairs are left replenished and will look great on those no makeup days.”

Laura recommends heading to a beauty expert who specialises in lash lifts, as it can save money and your lash health

A lash lift is a cosmetic procedure that is semi-permanent, which can last up to eight weeks, and it gives the appearance of longer, fuller lashes.

Laura continues: “Curled lashes help open your eyes and define your eye shape, making them appear more awake.

I see my clients have the ends snapped off their lashes just by using these two products

“This naturally makes the face look more youthful.

“With a proper curl, lashes look longer, thicker, fuller, and the eyes themselves appear larger.”

She also wants beauty fans to forget about using mascara and leave the lash curlers in the past.

Laura says: “I ban my clients from using mascara and lash curlers and they can be so damaging to your natural lashes.

“I see my clients have the ends snapped off their lashes just by using these two products.

“Sometimes when clients are wearing mascara, they might twiddle their lashes or pick it off when they’re bored and I can always tell they’ve been doing that because of the edges of their lashes.

“I can see because they’ll have blunt ends, which causes gaps as well. That will ultimately give years onto you as well.

“When your lashes are lifted you no longer need to curl and use mascara as you already wake up looking perfect.”

Laura also urges beauty fans to stop using face wipes or micellar water to help get their makeup off.

She says: “Both products are not good for your lashes or brows.

“They are both quite drying products, and can break and damage your hairs and stop them from growing.

“I’d recommended using an oil based cleanser, or cleansing balm so it can melt the products off their lashes and brows without causing damage.

How can I get luxurious lashes and brows?

According to Laura Dunne, owner of brow and lash company LD Lifts

  • Serums:
For rapid, effective results UK Lash/UK Brow are good. I recommend doing your own research as these contain prostaglandins which are controversial ingredients.
  • Castor oil:
It’s safe and affordable - filled with omega-6 fatty acids and vitamin E which is thought to support healthy hair growth and helps to lock in moisture.
  • Banish those wipes:
Remove makeup with Oil based or Balm cleansers using makeup wipes or micellar water can cause breakage.
  • Cosmetic treatments:
Lash lifts are the low maintenance beauty treatment, which can help to save money in the long run. Rather than having to constantly buy mascara’s which can be really damaging to your lashes, invest in a lash lift instead. I charge £45 for a lift, and I’ve had clients come back to me ten weeks later and their lashes are still lifted. They make your eyes wider, and give the illusion of a more youthful look.
  • Put the tweezers down:
Head to a beauty expert who can define a proper shape for your brows. Over plucked brows need a little extra TLC so invest in a castor oil.

“But ultimately doing a lash lift is the best, because you won’t need to use any products and it means your hairs can continue to strengthen and grow.”

Laura first founded LD Lifts in 2022 after travelling to Bali and Australia, and has since been looking after a big book of clients.

She says: “My goal is to focus on the long term health and growth of the brow.

“I always consult with my clients to see what they want to achieve and I always get the clients input throughout the mapping stage.

“Over my career, I have spotted the simple steps into making people look more youthful and I’d definitely say caring for your lashes and brows is a big one.

“I always urge my clients to not pluck their own brows too, and leave it to the experts - it can make a big difference.
