Dermatologist warns against two ‘burning’ skincare myths and reveals an anti-caking makeup trick for smooth, dewy skin
A DERMATOLOGIST has debunked two skincare myths that can cause more harm than good when it comes to your complexion.
She also shared an anti-caking makeup trick that will leave you with smooth, dewy skin.
Dr. Azadeh Shirazi shares skincare and wellness tips online as a medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology specialist.
She previously spoke to The U.S. Sun about her DIY beauty methods and the feminine item she uses for anti-aging.
Now, she has revealed a few common myths that beauty fans should avoid.
NO NONSENSE
First, the expert debunked the misconception that any stinging or burning you feel after applying a product is a sign it's working.
That couldn't be further from the truth, according to Dr. Shirazi.
She said it actually means that your skin is severely irritated by the ingredients.
The second she addressed had to do with people's confusion about SPF use.
She explained that many people feel like they don't need to wear sunscreen if their skin doesn't visibly burn.
They also think they can skip SPF later in the afternoon.
"UVA rays are present all day and they penetrate the skin deeper than burning UV rays," Dr. Shirazi said.
They can cause damage to your skin’s DNA, leading to an increased risk of cancer.
When it comes to maintaining a youthful appearance, excessive sun exposure can also "degrade your collagen and cause discoloration."
