But if you're hoping to strike gold without the need of luck, then you may just want to listen up!

That's because an avid B&M shopper has revealed the genius trick she uses to ensure she nabs all of the reduced-priced goods - and it really couldn't be easier.

The revelation comes after a woman named Mackenzie Peppiatt-Wilson took to Facebook group and asked: "Hi all! Can someone please help to explain the B&M app?

"I’ve heard of people scanning items and then being able to get them at a discounted price. I’d love to try this! Just don’t understand."

While many helpfully replied with top tips on how to use the B&M app, there was one comment from a woman named Tabitha that really stood out.

Sharing her secret hack for grabbing a bargain, she revealed: "I'm a prolific scanner in 6 stores - even my kids help using their devices.

"Rarely find anything these days but easiest way to find reduced items are to scan out of season stock."

She continued: "So if summer stuff is on shelf, look out for any leftover winter merchandise and vise versa each season - they're the items that'll most likely scan cheaper."

"Download the app in your app store. Press skip then scan. But make sure that you have a good signal in store or it won't work," one person advised.

A second explained how the app itself doesn't give you discounted prices, but is basically a tool you can use to scan any product to see what the current selling price is.

"Sometimes you get lucky with old stock, discontinued stock, old packaging, etc…." they continued.

"These products tend to get reduced to clear but staff don't always have time to update shelf prices and stock can vary in different stores."

Another told how the process works similar to the scanner you get at Tesco.

"You download the app from their website and scan the bar code," they said.

"It tells you what the checkout price is.

"Sometimes you will be lucky enough to find something that has been reduced as that item is now discontinued but it's not been changed on the shelf.

"The app doesn't get you a reduced price, just helps you find one."
