WE ALL love that the hot weather is finally coming out.
But with summer approaching, it also means lots more bugs and critters around the garden and home.
Ants often try to take over the kitchen during summer due to food being left around.
But it's not the vibe any of us want for summer so thankfully a cleaning expert has shared exactly how to get rid of them and keep them out.

Many people were in agreement with the best way to banish ants.
According to fellow group members, all you need to stop ants is an item you might already have in your bathroom cupboard - talcum powder.
One person wrote: "Any form of powder (baby powder, is so fine, I always recommend it), and it's less harmful regarding chemicals.”
Another commented: "Talcum powder all around the fridge area. They hate the stuff.”
"We had this and had to pull the fridge out as the queen had set up shop behind it. We removed the ants we could see and then put talcum powder everywhere," penned a third
Meanwhile a fourth said: "When I start to notice ants coming into my house I use talcum powder as it is effective at keeping ants out for good and even kills them. It works just as well as some ant killers, but it’s way cheaper.”
Keep pests out all summer
Hornets and wasps - hate the smell of peppermint oil so spraying this liberally around your patio or balcony can help to keep them at bay.
Moths - acidic household white vinegar is effective for deterring moths. Soak some kitchen roll in vinegar and leave it in your wardrobe as a deterrent.
Flying ants - herbs and spices, such as cinnamon, mint, chilli pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cloves, or garlic act as deterrents.
Mosquitoes -
Plants, herbs and essential oil fragrances can help deter mossies inside and out. Try eucalyptus, lavender and lemongrass.
"Add a mountain of talc by the fridge because they hate it. Since using this method I’ve never seen one again,” claimed a fifth.
In a previous post, a cleaner added: “I’m a cleaner and a lot of my clients struggle with ants in their home at this time of the year.
I always suggest using talcum powder inside and outside at the point they are coming in through and ants will never enter your home as they despise it.
“I’ve stopped them in my home and been ant-free for two years now. It’s so cheap, around £1 from most stores.”
Talcum powder works as it breaks the ants’ pheromone trail.
The powder then gets absorbed through their skin and clogs up their airways, killing them off for good.
