YOU can refurbish entire rooms in your home for up to 10 times cheaper than the market price, a property developer has revealed.

Michaeld Quadri, who is sharing the process of renovating two homes he owns on TikTok, urged Brits to “not sleep on Facebook Marketplace” or ex-display furniture.

The advice came after he picked up an entire Wren kitchen worth £6,000 for just £250 on the second-hand platform.

And with the average three-bedroom home renovation costing upwards of £83,000 in 2023, its no wonder more and more Brits are getting savvy.

That includes doing DIY and finding second-hand materials and furnishings.

“Things are so so expensive and I can’t buy new everything, so certain things I can buy second hand, I will buy them,” Michael revealed in a now-viral video.

Facebook Marketplace has honestly been so clutch for all the day-to-day stuff that I need.

“I’ve kitted out bedrooms £200 to £300 and sometimes the retail value could be nine or even 10 times the actual value of what I bought it for.

“You’ll be so amazed at what people are willing to give away on Facebook Marketplace for a fraction of the cost.

“So, look around and you can find some really, really good gems.”

Michael’s video sparked a flurry of interest, with savvy Brits penning their questions in the comments.

One common question was how he manages to get ex-display furniture and units.

How to find bargains for your home reno

Property developer Michaeld Quadri shares his top tips for a budget-friendly renovation on TikTok...

  1. Search for whole rooms (e.g. kitchens, bathrooms) on second-hand sites like Facebook Marketplace and eBay
  2. Join local Facebook groups, as well as ones dedicated to bargains and second-hand selling
  3. Ask shops what they plan to do with old displays
  4. Look for furniture stores' dedicated ex-display sections
  5. Be weary of scammers; check an item looks legit and the seller is a genuine account
  6. Keep looking consistently as you never know when your dream item will become available

“Try to find out when shops are due to change their displays, and find out what the plans are with the old displays,” Michael explained.

“A lot of shops have dedicated ex-display sections too.”

He also divulged how to avoid scammers on second-hand marketplaces and apps.

“The number of scammers there is crazy,” he penned.

“When parting with my money, I literally turn into a detective.

“Some things I look out for are what the seller has sold before and how long they’ve had their account.

“Do the pictures look legit, does the account look legit, can they send me a video of the item?”

When it comes to scouring for bargains on Facebook, Michael shared that “joining the right groups is everything”.

“More often than not, it’ll take a while to find exactly what you’re looking for - as in weeks or months,” he added.

“You just gotta keep looking consistently as you never know when it’ll become available.”
