My younger sister stole our sibling’s crush by telling him a lie – now they’re engaged, I finally told him the truth
A MARRIAGE proposal sparked resentment among siblings in a family where two sisters had a crush on the same man.
The situation spiraled into a heated argument after their other sibling shared their honest opinion during a family gathering.
The sibling took to Reddit’s AITAH [Am I the a**hole] forum writing under the handle .
They said their 32-year-old sister Kay introduced her work colleague Matt, 32, to their family at her 30th birthday party.
However, he stopped talking to Kay when he began dating their 28-year-old sister Jay just six months later.
The Reddit user found out Jay had told Matt that Kay had a boyfriend before pursuing him herself relentlessly.
Kay was left “heartbroken” that her “handsome” crush started dating her sister but chose not to share her feelings with Matt.
The sibling said Matt had a right to know that Jay stole him from Kay before going ahead with tying the knot.
Their mom was teasing Kay about being single during a family gathering when the sibling decided to vent their fury about the situation.
“I said loudly ‘I can’t believe that it had been 4 years since Kay had a bf,’” the sibling told Reddit users.

“‘Since her ex went home and the pandemic hit so he couldn’t fly back so he announced his engagement to another woman on fb [Facebook] and that’s how Kay knew it was over between them.’
“Jay was very nervous and wanted to change the subject but Matt was shocked over how someone would do this to their gf [girlfriend].
“I don’t think he really did the math at first and he didn’t react. I was annoyed tbh [to be honest].
“So I insisted, ‘Yeah when she introduced you at her 30th party I really thought she had a crush on you because she never shut up about you but a few months later you and Jay got together.’
“I said that it was confusing and surely not only for me but the rest of the family, but then again Jay has done this before and stole Kay’s first bf.
“This was followed by the loudest silence.”
The sibling said Jay and Matt left shortly after their outburst and everyone was “shocked” to learn Jay had lied about Kay having had a boyfriend to steal Matt.
Their mom was left “distraught” when Matt ended his relationship with Jay who then blocked her sisters.
