The DIY enthusiast revealed the tips and tricks that saved the couple cash on their renovation, including how they made their old skirting boards look brand new, whilst on a budget.
So if the cost of living crisis has made your purse feel tighter than ever, then you’ve come to the right place.
DIY fan Kerri McGuire, who posts on Instagram under the username @, took to social media to share a before and after look at her living room, leaving many open-mouthed.
Posting on , a private Facebook group with 2.2 million members, the mum-of-three shared snaps of her living room and penned: “My partner and I finished a very much needed living room update last week and I couldn’t love it more!”
Kerri, who is engaged to her fiancé Kyle, then added: “Found an old before picture – I can’t believe the difference.”
What was once a very dark space, with an old-fashioned leaf wallpaper and brown wooden flooring, has since been given a total refresh.
The space now appears bigger and brighter, thanks to the stylish herringbone flooring, the modern panelled effect wall design and a fresh lick of paint.
Kerri then opened up to Fabulous about her transformation project, as she explained: “We managed to keep the costs down a bit by carrying out the work ourselves.
“I love painting and decorating rooms in our house but fancied something different this time.
“I fell in love with these wooden wall panels from The Wooden Floor Store and after speaking to the manager in the Edinburgh branch, he reassured me how easy it was so we gave it a bash ourselves.
We’re delighted with how it turned out, even more so that we were able to do it all ourselves!

“Same for our skirtings. Rather than remove and replace them, we found a company called Skirting4u that made skirting board covers that you just stick on top.
“Again, so easy to apply with some no more nails.
“My partner laid the floor and I painted – we’re delighted with how it turned out, even more so that we were able to do it all ourselves!”
Kerri also explained that to decorate the space, she nabbed her wooden tripod floor lamp from Amazon and used Farrow and Ball paint in the shade Mizzle.
