IT can be hard to know what to wear for a wedding as a guest.

One woman decided to take to the internet to ask if her green dress was suitable for an upcoming wedding she had, and it didn’t go down well.

She shared a number of photos on showing off the silky dress which fell to the floor and had embroidered detailing around the top.

The woman wrote: “Need to know if the neckline is ‘too much”.

She explained that the dress had been bought for a semi-formal “festive garden wedding.”

While she looked stylish in the dress, it didn’t go down well when it came to people’s opinions about wearing it to a wedding.

One person wrote: “Looks lovely but it does look like lingerie.. so don’t think it’s quite right for a wedding.”

Another added: “This was my thought too. My first knee jerk reaction was that it was a beautiful nightie.”

Many people pointed out that it didn’t quite fit her in the cup department.

One Reddit user commented: “If you have doubts on whether or not something is appropriate, then you don't really think it's appropriate.

“Otherwise you shouldn't be asking.

“To my eye, it looks like the underwire isn't sitting where it should due to the cups are slightly too small.”

I had a major bridesmaid wardrobe snafu at my friend's wedding - luckily the bride thought it was funny

The wedding guest responded to the comments steering her away from the dress, and said: “Tysm for the input and advice!

“I really do think you're right.

“Unfortunately, I bought this a while ago and stupidly threw away the tag.

“I actually wore it to a different friend's wedding as a bridesmaid but I had the bride's enthused approval that time, I'm not as close to the bride this time so I don't really want to bother her with attire questions this close to her this close to her wedding lol.”

While the dress may not have been a hit for weddings, at least it wasn’t white.

We previously shared how a wedding planner was fed up after noticing that four women showed up to a ceremony wearing white-hued dresses.

Her annoyance was so great that she couldn’t bite her tongue.

Wedding planner Cari Izaguirre said there is no reason for a guest to ever show up wearing the same colour as the bride.

Speaking about etiquette, she said in the clip: “You do not wear white to a wedding. Or a light ivory. You just don’t do it.”

Standing outside of a reception she organised, she said there were four people sporting looks that crossed the line.
