SKIN WIN

I’m an actress and have to wear SO much make-up for work – luckily my skin is wrinkle free at 47 thanks to a £5 product

Lisa Riley has a simple four step routine to remove all of her Mandy Dingle make-up

LISA Riley might be best known for playing caked-up Mandy Dingle on ITV’s Emmerdale, but outside of work her make-up-free skin has a blinding glow.

The 47-year-old has a totally wrinkle free complexion without the help of Botox or filler – and she puts it all down to “taking care of her skin daily”.

But outside of work, she has a fresh and glowing complexion

Taking to Instagram, the ITV soap veteran shared exactly how she looks after her face, as well as some anti-ageing tips.

“Trust me, for work at Emmerdale I wear a lot of make-up,” she penned.

Her character Mandy is known her her dark eyeshadow, thick black eyeliner, fluffy eyelashes, dark lipstick and striking contour – but this isn’t how Lisa looks on the daily.

She has a simple four-step routine for the evening that’s designed to get rid of all of her “Mandy make-up” and nourish her skin.

Lisa shared with fans her “tried and tested” products, promising that she bought them herself and thinks they’re worth every penny.

“Step one, start with the Shiseido Perfect Cleansing Oil (£39),” she penned on Instagram.

“You don’t get cloudy eyes and this takes off every inch of make-up.

“Step two, then I use my bestie Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator (£18 for 13g or £65 for 74g).

“Step three, to keep the pores super clean I use Dr. Hauschka Facial Toner (£4 for 10ml or £27 for 100ml).

“And then to finish off, giving my skin the really moisturising drink it needs.”

Lisa Riley says she hasn't had a 'proper drink in three years' but used to down 1.5 bottles of wine a night

“[I use] either Weleda Skin Food (£14.95) or the brilliant, brilliant new find I told you about yesterday, Dr. Hauschka Apricot Day Cream (£5 for 5ml or £30 for 30ml),” Lisa continued.

“Both are wonderful and give so much moisture.”

Fans were quick to rush to the comments of Lisa’s post, amazed at just how flawless her complexion is.

“Your skin’s beautiful,” Hollie Hardman penned.

“Your skin is absolutely glowing, Lisa,” Sarah Jackson added. “Beautiful.”

“Look at that glow,” Kim Armitage beamed. “You look amazing.

“I love skincare so love to see others results and recommendations.”

Lisa’s new hero products, the Dr. Hauschka Apricot Day Cream, is specially designed for dull and dry skin.

Formulators describe the consistency as “velvety and bright, just like the fruit itself”.

“Our Apricot Day Cream offers intensive nourishment to dry and dull skin, without feeling heavy,” they said. “The result is a radiant complexion.

“Vitamins and unsaturated fatty acids from apricot kernel oil revitalise the skin, leaving it feeling plump and fresh.

“Add this cream as the third step of your skincare routine and treat your skin to the delicately scented texture every morning.

“It absorbs quickly, gives the skin a fresh glow and is an ideal base for make-up.”

Sober Soap Star

Lisa also leads a sober lifestyle, which can have a profound impact on the skin.

While her alter ego Mandy loves a drink, the actress hasn’t touched a drop of alcohol in nine years and says that life is so much better without it.

She gave up after realising her drinking was in danger of getting out of control.

“I don’t miss it,” Lisa told Fabulous last year.

I don’t think I’ll ever drink again

“People say to me, ‘that must be really boring’, but it’s not boring and neither am I.

“I have a very fun and full life — a life that is so much better without alcohol.

“I don’t think I’ll ever drink again.”

Alcohol can dehydrated the skin, causing a dry and dull complexion that’s more prone to fine lines and wrinkles.

Going sober can help improve skin hydration levels, leading to a more radiant complexion.

What’s more, alcohol interferes with the body’s ability to absorb certain nutrients like vitamins A, C, and E – which are key to having a glowing face.

By giving up alcohol, the body can better absorb these nutrients and duly improve your complexion’s appearance.
