Taking to , she says: "He is from a very posh, well-off family. Meanwhile I am from a happy lower-middle-class family."

She goes on to say that they "clicked" straight away and that it was in fact him that was initially more aware of the age gap and conscious others might think he was ";taking advantage of her."

Despite this, she says the two were drawn to each other, wanted a family and started their lives together.

However, the mum-of-two says: "Since then, we've had so many comments about me being a gold digger, him getting 'banter' about being with a younger woman, suggestions it's a very transactional relationship (me giving him the children he wanted, him giving me money and a house).

"I've found it hard to integrate with members of his family, and although my family love him, my sisters have expressed envy/ jealousy of how much easier my life is now because of him."

She goes on to say that she and her husband also have some differing opinions, including that he wants to pay for things such as fancy meals for her.

"I''m worried about looking like a trophy wife," she says.

The woman goes on to admit that sometimes she doesn't think she's "right" for the relationship, despite the fact they undeniably love each other.

Many forum users were quick to take to the comments section to offer messages of support.

"I know it’s hard to ignore the people who are determined to be the detractors but it is them who have the problem, not you," wrote one.

Trolls insult me by calling me a ‘gold digger’ but I prefer ‘trophy wife’…they’re just jealous I’m dripping in diamonds

"Focus on your lovely husband and prove them wrong by not giving them any head-space and continue living your best life."

A second penned: "I think it’s more the British class system rearing its ugly head than the age gap. Stick to your principles. Don’t fall in line with his belief system.

"Show you’ve got a mind of your own and that you intend to use it. He’ll respect you more for that.

"You can’t help falling in love with a rich man, but you can definitely keep your principles and ideals even if they are different to his."

A third commented: "One thing I wish I knew in my twenties, is that you don’t meekly hope that people will respect you - you demand it.

"The next time someone makes a gold digger comment, come down on it harshly. Why should you give a f***k if a rude person doesn’t think you’re ‘nice’?

"You love each other, you’ve given him the gift of children and in return you get to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle."
