A NURSE has told how she won £500 and even bagged a free weekend away all thanks to her Ring Doorbell.
Tracy Shannon, 39, from Glasgow, scooped the bumper prize when she appeared on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway back in March 2022.
But it wasn’t only Tracy who bagged the jackpot with her neighbour Vincent also taking away £500 thanks to the smart doorbell.
The Ring My Bell challenge sees the Geordie presenting duo reveal a live feed from the camera of someone in the audience.
If the person in the studio recognises their street, they jump up and shout 'ding, dong that's my doorbell', for a chance to win.
And as an added bonus, if a fellow resident recognises the view, they have 45 seconds to race to the nearby house and ring the bell, responding ‘ring my bell.’

Lucky Tracy and Vincent successfully bagged £1000 in total, leaving a few neighbours feeling a little jealous.
NEIGHBOUR RIVALRY
Speaking exclusively to Fabulous, Tracy says: “Vincent is our next door neighbour so he was round to ours pretty quickly.
“From what I heard afterwards a few others tried to get round there too but once they saw Vincent they knew they didn’t stand a chance.
“It’s still something that gets discussed by the neighbours two years later.

“Just last week one of my neighbour’s sons was saying that he would have beaten Vincent to it had he been in that night.
“So I think there were a few disappointed people on our street.”
Tracy had initially applied to be on the show when producers asked fans to send in funny Ring Doorbell videos but her demanding job meant she missed the call from the show’s producers.
However, they got in touch a few weeks later to offer Tracy two tickets for the live studio audience.
BONUS TRIP
“We were told that Thursday that we had won tickets to the show,” Tracy says.
“We were thrilled of course but the show was on Saturday and we were in Glasgow so we weren’t sure how we’d manage it.
“But the producers arranged our flights and hotel accommodation which was a great surprise.
“We probably wouldn’t have been able to go otherwise because we couldn’t afford the last minute flights.
“It was like a prize itself - they took such good care of us.
“Even when we arrived at the airport there was a chauffeur waiting ready to drive us to the hotel.”
UNDERCOVER HUSBAND
Tracy and her husband Steven, 41, a scaffolder, flew up to London on the Saturday morning and headed to the studios with the mum none the wiser about what was to come.
“What I didn’t know was my husband was in on it the whole time, it turns out he had been speaking to ITV for weeks,” she says.
“Looking back he was acting pretty suspiciously the whole evening.
“We went for some drinks before the show and he kept popping outside to call his ‘brother’ back or making excuses to go to the toilet.
“At one point he was gone so long that I ordered another glass of wine - I think Steven was pretty concerned when he came back that I might be tipsy on the show.
“Of course what I didn’t realise was that he was going to speak to producers.
“They were asking for pictures of what I was wearing that evening so they’d be able to recognise me in the studio.”
NONE THE WISER
Even when the Geordie double act introduced the game, Tracy didn’t have a clue what was coming.
“When the live feed from my doorbell came on the screen it took me a good minute to recognise my own house as my car wasn’t on the drive,” she recalls.
In order to bag the prize, a neighbour of Tracy’s had to race round carrying a remote control with Vincent arriving within seconds, securing them both £500 each.
After the money arrived in her bank account two weeks after the show, Tracy used it to treat her family.
“We booked a couple of nights away to a nice hot tub lodge with the kids,” she says.
“I wanted to use it to spend time with my family, I didn’t want to just stick it in the bank.”
Two years on, the Shannon family are still huge fans of the show and will be sad when it comes to end with the current series 20 being the last.
“My family and I are such huge fans of the show, we sit down and watch it every week so we will really miss it when it’s gone,” Tracy says.
