A LUXURY fashion house has released a handbag that looks like a McDonald’s Happy Meal box — for £1,350.

The accessory, by Yves Saint Laurent, is made of calf leather with suede lining and covered in the iconic YSL logo.

The 7in by 8in “Take-away Box Bag” comes in two colours — dusty vintage brown gold or black.

Bronx rapper Cardi B ate sushi out of one in the video for new song Like What (Freestyle).

But social media users were quick to mock the new release.

One X/ Twitter user wrote: “Don’t get the cardboard box.

“Even the black gives Happy Meal.”

Another added: “Happy Meal YSL bag has to go.”

French brand YSL was previously ridiculed for its £1,105 calf-leather tote that looked like a “deli paper bag”.

It comes after Spanish fashion house Balenciaga last month released three leather clutches resembling giant packets of crisps.

With a hefty price tag of £1,350, the zip-up bags come in three colour-coordinated varieties - salt and vinegar, cheese and onion, and spicy chilli.

They are part of a range which includes a £2,490 calfskin tote - decorated with a pattern of strawberries, vegetables or bread - that has been compared to a £1.50 Morrison’s bag for life.
