A MUM tearfully endured a FIVE-HOUR eyelash appointment only to be left with swollen 'spider leg eyes' - before the beautician scolded her for 'racking up a water bill' by using the LOO.
Julie Turney demanded a refund after a beautician allegedly left her with 'swollen, red eyes' following a marathon appointment to apply a set of fake eyelashes.
The mum-of-one, who found the technician on social media, claims it took nearly five hours and that her face had to be dried with a fan before the lashes were attached due to her streaming eyes.
But at the end of the appointment the 57-year-old was horrified to see 'thick, long and spider-like' lashes stuck on top of her red raw eyes.
Shocking photos show the crime prevention agency worker's bloodshot and swollen eyes hours after the lash extension treatment - with the lashes looking matted like 'spider legs'.
After confronting the beautician via social media, Julie said the lash technician berated her for 'using the toilet twice' during the four-and-a-half hour appointment - that 'added to her water bill'.
More on beauty fails
Julie, from Wallington, Surrey, said: "I saw a post on Facebook from a woman doing a special offer on lashes. I wasn't going to get them done but was going out.
"Stupidly I didn't research her. I just saw it and thought 'that sounds good. What could possibly go wrong?'.
"She said she'd been a lash technician for three years and I thought she must be experienced so I booked in with her.
"My eyes were really streaming throughout the application and I thought 'I'm sure I don't normally tear up this much'.

"It felt fine when she was putting them on, apart from my eyes were streaming.
"She gave me the mirror when we were finished and I said 'what have you given me?' and she said 'Russians' and I said 'but I asked for classics'.
"They were only £20, I was really stupid for going to her.
"I wasn't aware how long I was there for, I got in my car and realised I was there for nearly five hours."
The following few days Julie said she was left in 'agony' and contacted the technician demanding the lashes to be removed.
Julie said: "The next day I went round my friend's [house] because my eyes were awful, I was in agony.
"My friend said 'oh my god they look awful'. It was like I had grit in my eyes, there were just lumps and lumps of glue.
Lash expert reveals mistakes that can harm your eyes
A BEAUTY expert Nouveau Lashes, part of the HD Brows brand, has revealed what habits could be not only damaging your health, but your beauty.
1. Rubbing your eyes
Debbie Law, International Lash Trainer, said: “Whilst rubbing your eyes could seem pretty harmless, rubbing them too hard can lead to thinning of the cornea, cause blood vessels to break and result in bloodshot eyes and dark under eyes.”
2. Overuse of extensions
Be wary that using them too often can lead to eye infection, allergic reactions and damage to your natural lashes.
3. Wearing mascara too often
Debbie said: “Most of the damage of wearing mascara lies in the removal process, which is why using mascara every single day can cause lash breakage, as well as making the makeup removal process more difficult."
4. Ripping false lashes off
This can lead to not only losing your lashes, but damaging the hair follicles so they don’t grow back.

"They looked like spider legs, they were so thick and long. They were horrendous, just awful. I was in agony for four days, all my friends were absolutely shocked.
"I had 24-hour discomfort. She'd dug my natural lashes into my eye. I had problems at work seeing the computer - I had blurry vision.
"I sent a picture of them to the lash technician and said they need removing. She said she'd buy some remover because she doesn't stock it.
"She sent me a message to say she can't get the remover and suggested I go elsewhere and have them taken off by another lash tech which I did.
"I asked her to pay for them to be taken off and she said she'll give me 50% of the money back and I said 'that's not good enough'."
During one of the message exchanges, Julie said the technician even berated her for using the toilet and her electric fan during the appointment - costing her to fork out more on her water and electricity bill.

The messages read: 'You stood up to use the loo on two different occasions, that's also on my water and electricity.
'You teared up throughout the process from the very beginning of putting on the eye pads and tape, making it longer and difficult to lash as I have to pause for your lashes to dry and then use the fan. That's extra fees on my electricity.'
Julie said: "I was sat there for nearly five hours, you have to expect your clients to go to the toilet in your property. It's a tiny bit of water that's hardly going to cost anything.
Four days later Julie's fake lashes were removed and the woman who attached them refunded her for the treatment.
The mum said the experience has led her to remain vigilant of 'rogue beauticians' working in the industry.
Julie said: "I'll definitely be a lot more careful now. I go to a lady now who's been in the industry 11 years.
"I always say now be very careful who you go to, especially if you're getting a last-minute appointment. If they're not booked up, they might not be very good.

"It's made me want to spread awareness of rogue beauticians like this.
"I always tell people to be very careful and vigilant. Always ask to see their qualifications and make sure they're legitimate."
