MOTHER'S Day is fast approaching (March 10 - don't forget!) and if you’re still not sure how to show your absolute queen of a mum, gran or any other special woman in your life how much you love her, let us help.
Whether you’re got cash to splash or want a small but still impressive pressie, Team Fabulous has the lowdown on some of the sweetest treats around.
Maybe you’re buying for a chocoholic, a coffee lover or someone who appreciate a good bottle of wine - we’ve got all the bases covered.
And the best bit is we’ve thoroughly road-tested them at Fabulous HQ and answered the question: Do the mums in the office love them, and would they get the seal of approval from their mums?
We’re looking at presentation, value for money and, of course, taste.
Which hamper is the hot-ticket item and which one isn’t worth the effort of an online order? Read on to find out…
They might say good things come in small packages, but the size of the box was enough to get me excited - and I know my mum would feel pretty special opening the door to a delivery this impressive.
It’s really well packaged, with chilled items on ice, and loads of recyclable/compostable padding to prevent that much-longed-for bottle of pink prosecco from breaking - though I feel like some coloured tissue or ribbon wouldn't have gone amiss.
But it’s what’s inside that counts, and there’s everything you need for an afternoon tea for two or more, including the shop's classic red velvet cake, pretty pastel mini macarons, all-butter Devon scones (with jars of jam and clotted cream), and even a gorgeous gold tin of tea.
This is not just any hamper… it’s an absolute classic that would put a smile on anyone's face, plus there's enough to treat the whole family.
Whether it’s Mother’s Day, a birthday or Christmas, wine is always a good idea when it comes to pleasing Mum.
This luxe-looking gift box contains a bottle of malbec, as well as a box of chocolates and an artisan chocolate bar that looks like a work of art.
It has a real grown-up feel to it (no sharing with the kids needed!).
Available all year round, this would make a fab gift for any occasion, from a bestie's birthday to end-of-school teacher's treat.
First impressions count, and the hot-pink leopard-print packaging really screams “sass” among a sea of pastel Mother’s Day offerings.
I can smell the peanut butter cookies before I’ve even opened the box, so I dive straight in and am not disappointed - they’re the best biscuits I’ve had in a very long time.
But that’s not all - a box of gooey treats (lemon drizzle cake, carrot cake and sea-salt brownies), plus a pair of pleasingly home-baked scones with a mini jam and two Bird & Blend tea bags complete the afternoon tea experience.
Buying for a vegan? This is perfection, but just as good if she’s not.
If you’re working with a smaller budget, or distance means you won’t get to see your mum in person this Mother’s Day, this little beauty is ideal.
The long, slim box easily slides through my letterbox, and beneath a layer of tissue nestles some tasty coffee sachets, including Jump Start, House Blend and Italian.
But what’s a coffee break without cake? Thankfully, it comes with selection of mini carrot cakes, millionaire’s shortbread, caramel waffles and chunky chocolate biscuits to tuck into.
My mum is an absolute caffeine monster, so I just know this would be a hit - so much so, I reckon she'd be popping the coffee in a flask and taking those sweet treats out on one of her long walks with her friends.
This is the perfect twist on a classic afternoon tea, and I'll be sending it to my granny this Mother's Day.
She’ll enjoy the citrusy biscuits, delicious-looking chocolate and hazelnut babka loaf cake and marmalade with a cuppa or two.
And I’ll love telling her about how the Ocelot Femme chocolate is made with cocoa beans grown at a female co-operative - it’s giving girl power!
The best bit for me, though, is the St Eval candle - it’s one of my fave brands and the fig scent is out of this world!
You know you're going to get quality when Rick Stein's name is on the label, and this is indeed full of elevated treats.
It's at the pricier end, but the boujie gift box is worth it, with an assortment of chipotle nuts, crumbly shortbread and sea-salt chocolate.
The bottle of Rick's Spanish white wine goes down a treat, and with the bonus Jill Padstow Sea Salt & Samphire scented candle lit beside me, I can almost pretend I'm on a mini break for one on the Cornish coast.
It's the stuff mum dreams are made of.
