HOLD on to your hems, the mini skirt is going to be everywhere this spring.
But is it really wearable for everyone? Our fashion team say: absolutely!
Designer brand Miu Miu may have had the fashion world divided with the micro mini in 2022. But with demand for above-the-knee skirts increasing 133 per cent in recent months, according to fashion search engine, , it was only a matter of time before we all became obsessed again.
And this year, minis have taken over the high street. There's no getting away from it - the mini skirt is in.
And whether you're rocking the preppy or pinstripe-sharp trends, there's a style to suit everyone on the high street - from A-line to pleated and tweed textures.
Fabulous’ Fashion Team shows how they’ll be styling their minis this season.

Many years ago before I was a fashion editor, I worked on the reception desk at Vivienne Westwood.
Vivienne had just invented the ‘Crotch mini’ which was a teeny-tiny skirt that didn’t really cover your bum cheeks and was approximately 5in long.
It was worn by a waif-like teen Kate Moss at Vivienne’s 1993 catwalk show in Paris and I was instantly sold - and bought one on the spot.

And I continued wearing minis for years to come, mainly with pointy flats or big boots to make them more androgynous. But when I hit my 40s, I stopped reaching for short skirts, and haven't worn one since.
Until now.
I tested the look out on my Instagram a few weeks ago and wore one when I visited Paris for the day. And I was so surprised by the comments on my post. The resounding answer was: “YES! Wear the mini skirt!”
So that's what I'm doing!

The S/S'24 catwalks saw designers such as Miu Miu and Fendi send their models down the runway in extra-short mini skirts, and while I’m usually more of a midi girl when it comes to skirts and dresses, I do love the preppy style so wanted to give it a go.
This pinstripe skirt from New Look also comes with a matching waistcoat, but I’ve opted to team it with this blouse from H&M, as I love the detailing on the collar.
I’ve added a black blazer over the top, as it's a classic wardrobe staple, and taken the preppy look even further with a pair of loafers from Schuh.

My mini skirt muse has to be Rachel Green.
As someone who puts Friends on when I get home every evening, it's no wonder she (or rather Jennifer Aniston) has influenced what I wear.
Her nineties black-and-grey aesthetic is very me, and her love of simple minis has pushed me to wear them myself.
For balance, I wear mine with an oversized jumper (I'm in love with this one from Albaray), a long coat and knee-high boots during the day.
I prefer the look of 15 denier tights, which isn't always great in winter, so the rest of me needs to be layered and warm.
And for the evening I'll add a more fitted black top and heeled sandals.

Despite a mini not being something I'd usually be drawn to in the colder weather, I'm loving the mini skirt trend at the moment.
This faux-leather one from Bershka is my go-to. The box-pleat detailing gives it a more sophisticated edge, so it still feels appropriate for work.

I’ve paired it with an oversized soft jumper and layered up with my favourite wool-blend jacket - I love the hint of blue to oomph up my usual mono palette.
Polish off the look with thigh-high boots - they're a great alternative to sandals or ankle boots when the weather is cold and your skirt is short!
