BRIDE BETRAYAL

I was labeled ‘jealous & unhinged’ over my bridesmaid dress – but my supposed ‘best friend’ set me up

One commenter said it was only a matter of time before 'karma will bite the bride on the a**'

WEDDING woes don't get much worse than this tale of buddy fall-outs and dress dramas.

She was labeled "jealous and unhinged" over her bridesmaid dress.

But this bestie was no friend. She had set her up and all hell let loose.

The beleaguered woman posted the whole sorry tale to for some clarity and reassurance.

She felt attacked on all sides and was still suffering from the fallout of the whole affair.

"Am I the a**hole for wearing a white dress to a wedding after being specifically requested to by the bride?" she asked.

Her appeal certainly alerted the interests of Redditors, with over 12,000 reacting to her post, and another 2,500 commenting.

She set out the background to the wedding dress drama.

The pair were childhood friends. Their lives had gone in different directions, but they remained close.

She even introduced her to her new husband - he had been an old boyfriend.

"I assured her that there was absolutely nothing romantic. I was happy she was happy," she said.

When the couple got engaged, she fully expected to be her maid of honor but the invitation never came.

It was a shock to discover there were no plans for her to be in the wedding. Instead, a cousin was made maid of honor.

"I was pretty hurt by this. I was her closest and oldest friend. I introduced her to her fiance and was friends with him too."

She wasn't even invited to the engagement party. "That also hurt but I didn't say anything," she said.

But to her delight, six weeks before the wedding, she got the call.

One of the bridesmaids had dropped out and she was asked to step in. She was thrilled.

"I was relieved and accepted immediately," she said.

"She told me that she was doing a reverse color pallette for the bridal party where all of the bridesmaids and groomsmen were wearing white, and she and the groom were wearing black.

"I had a white slip dress already that would work and sent her a picture of it and she verbally approved it," she wrote.

But on the wedding day, it became clear something was amiss: She had been worked over.

"When I entered the room, every last bridesmaid was in a blue dress. I was the only one in white. My stomach dropped."

She was enemy number one despite her attempts to defend herself.

"The cousin started screaming at me, going off on me about how I was jealous, in love with the groom, and how completely unhinged I was," she said.

But there was worse to come from the bride, who said, "I think we both know that this is the end of our friendship. I've given you too many chances. It's time for you to go."

She has struggled to recover from the betrayal and humiliation.

"My reputation is destroyed. My life is in tatters. I don't think I'm the a**hole, but I submit myself to Reddit's judgment," she said.

Commenters were appalled at her treatment and offered her some solace.

"Wtf. She is a psychopath. She literally try to make you look bad without and reason other than her pleasure," said one person.

"This sounds like the plot of a soap opera. Obviously you're not the a**hole," said a second person.

"She’s f**king bonkers, right? Because this is pants-on-head crazy," said another Redditor.

"You have done nothing wrong. Your life is not ruined and neither your reputation. She will have karma bite her in the a** very soon," wrote one commenter.
