Something strange has happened to me in the last month.
I have decided at the grand old age of 52 that it is finally time to dress like a grown-up!
As someone who dresses mostly like a tomboy, this change of style is quite the switch-up.
Goodbye scruffy jeans and baggy blazers, and hello bodycon midi-dresses and chic coats.
I can’t tell you how happy I am that printed midi dresses seem to be a thing of the past, because I always looked like a pantomime dame in them.
The return to 90s power dressing is so up my street - maybe because I remember wearing it the first time around!
Smart, easy to put together and very chic, dressing like a city slicker just feels so right.
Working on the Fashion team, I often switch between sitting at my desk writing emails and articles, and pulling clothes of rails in the fashion cupboard.
So I like to make sure that my work outfits are comfy to sit down in and also move around in.
Wearing jeans and trainers may not be what you think of when it comes to workwear, but I keep things professional by wearing a smarter pair of jeans, like this pair from Tu at Sainsbury’s, as well as a pair of Adidas Gazelle’s that aren’t too chunky.
Throwing a blazer on over my outfit is my go-to in order to smarten up - and this one from H&M is a great addition to my wardrobe, as beige really does go with everything.
A simple black T-shirt is also another work wardrobe staple, and this one from Cos is great quality.
Keeping my jewellery classic means I've still get room for a little pop of print in an otherwise neutral outfit - and pulling my hair back with this leopard-print scrunchie from Primark for just £3 is my new favourite thing!

I’m very formulaic when it comes to my workwear, but it makes getting dressed every day a breeze.
I’m nearly always in a pair of loose-fitting trousers - this pair from Zara have a dart down the middle, which gives them a smarter look.
I’m loving red at the moment and this bright jumper is bold for me, but layered with a white long-sleeve T-shirt and muted tones of this blazer, it really works.
I bought this Celine-inspired jacket from Massimo Dutti before Christmas and it was worth every penny, as I’ve lived in it since. Plus, houndstooth is one of those perennial prints that won’t date and it's great for the office to give my outfit some structure.
I always plan my work outfit around what sort of activities I'll be doing during my day.
I rarely spend the whole day sitting at my desk, as I am usually out and about in town or sorting clothes in the fashion cupboard.
So I tend to opt for a stylish look that will be comfortable all day long.
I’m a huge fan of this trench-style coat from Pretty Lavish. It’s made from a felt textured material, so it’s super-warm, and the notched lapels make it look a little smarter than your average coat too.
I’ve kept my outfit pretty simple and neutral with a cream polo-neck and a pair of wide-leg jeans.
