From boob jobs and Botox to filler injections, celebrities have forked out a small fortune in a bid to try and prevent ageing over the years.
However, an increasing number of famous faces have opted to reverse thousands of pounds-worth of surgery and cosmetic procedures in a bid to achieve a more "natural" look.
While Megan Mckenna was left questioning "what was I thinking" when her "humongous" lips looked ready to "pop," Molly-Mae Hague admitted she barely recognised herself after taking lip fillers to the "extreme".
But they're not the only reality stars undergoing the ultimate make-under - with one reality star even vowing to spend up to £100k to embrace her natural beauty...
MOLLY-MAE HAGUE
The former Love Island star, who is engaged to Tommy Fury, admitted she didn't recognise herself by the time she reached the age of 21 due to the amount of cosmetic work she'd had done.
Not only had she been getting injections for a fuller pout since she was just 17-years-old, but she admitted taking her fillers to the "extreme" - eventually leaving her terrified of herself in photos.
In 2021, Molly-Mae underwent procedures to have her lip and jaw filler dissolved and her composite bonding veneers removed.
Now, after stripping herself back, the 24-year-old says she feels the "prettiest" she's ever felt - and even believes she's "dropped about five years" off her age.
"I wouldn't say I got addicted to it, but by the age of 21, I didn't look like the same person," she said, speaking to Steven Bartlett on podcast.
"I literally looked like a different person. When I look back at pictures now, I'm terrified of myself. I'm like, 'Who was that girl?' I don't know what happened.
"But there was this one pivotal moment where I'd gone and got loads of filler and I posted a YouTube video and I hadn't let the filler settle and it was really swollen and a screenshot from that video, it trended on Twitter for weeks.
"It was horrendous. It was utterly horrendous. My face was literally like, it was just awful. That was the moment for me as well where I was like, I think things need to change.
"I thought, one day I'm going to get my lips dissolved. It was a process. I went and got my lips dissolved and I posted about it on YouTube and I didn't expect the response that I got. It was huge."
And speaking exclusively to Fabulous Digital, Lydia Badia, who is Consultant Surgeon in Rhinoplasty and Facial Plastics and co-founder of , said Molly-Mae is a classic example of "less is more" and looks "around eight years younger, since she has removed the filler from her lips".
She continued: "I would say that Molly would have had several treatments over the years which built up to create quite an un-natural look.
"To me she looks like she may have at least 3mls of filler in her lips alone, maybe more, so the cost for this would be around £1,600-£2,000. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was slightly more.
"Molly-Mae also looks like she might have used HA fillers in her cheeks as well and Botox.
"The reversal would have cost the same – around £1,600-£2,000 if it was just her lips she had reversed."
As well as ditching lip injections, Molly-Mae has also opted for a short bob over hair extensions, and in 2022, revealed in a blog that she had her composite bonds removed to reveal her natural and “extremely yellow” teeth.
Dr Nikki Izadi, Dentist at White and Co previously told Fabulous that composite veneers usually range between £200 to £400 each depending on the amount of tooth coverage required.
This means Molly-Mae’s pearly whites may have cost her up to £1,000 but are likely to have cost similar to have them changed or removed as she ‘reverses’ her treatments.
The dentist noted: “I would suggest the patient goes back to their existing dentist otherwise going to a new dentist will cost the full price of £700-1000 for removal.
MEGAN MCKENNA
According to cosmetic surgeon Lydia, Megan’s case is similar to Molly-Mae's because she also looks "at least seven to eight years younger" since dissolving her lip filler.
The former TOWIE star previously revealed her singing career was the main reason she stopped having filler injected, which she says made her lips “sore and swollen".
"I was going to a lot of auditions and doing interviews, and afterwards the comments were always about my lips," Megan explained in an interview with Heat magazine.
Megan went on to say how she had a “huge insecurity” about her natural lips and always thought they were “tiny, even though they weren’t”, which eventually resulted in her opting for fillers.
However, the 31-year-old revealed “something clicked” after she signed up for the Celebrity X Factor and she decided to have the filler removed in the hope of being “taken seriously".
She admitted she was “surprised that [her] lips didn’t pop” - adding that she now feels “embarrassed” about the appearance of her previously “humongous lips".
I used to edit my pictures to make my lips look bigger
Megan McKenna
During an episode of Good Morning Britain, Ben Shephard asked whether the "physical changes" she's made after getting her filler dissolved had changed public perception.
"Yes, I look back and I do look at myself and think: 'What was I even thinking?'" Megan said.
"I kind of put myself into this little bubble, I had a bit of body dysmorphia, I just think you've got to accept the way you look and I do think it's made people look at me in a different light now.
"I think people can see I've left that crazy life behind."
Megan went on to warn youngsters about the danger of tweakments and noted that social media is a "big lie".
"I don't agree with lip filler now, it can be dangerous and I think people need to love the way they are," she said.
"Instagram is a big lie at the end of the day - people need to remember that they edit their pictures and change the way they look.
"I used to edit my pictures to make my lips look bigger in the editing apps, and when people meet me they say I look better in real life and I'd be like: 'Why am I doing this? I just need to like the way I look in photos.'"
Megan concluded: "It's been a learning curve but thankfully I've seen the light."
Cosmetic expert Lydia says it doesn't surprise her that Megan is being taken more seriously now she's had her lip filler removed.
"I would say that Megan might have had around 3mls of filler in her lips at one time, so the cost for this would be around £1, 600 and her reversal would have cost the same," she commented.
CHARLOTTE CROSBY
The Geordie Shore star, who gave birth to her first child with partner Jake Ankers in October 2022, first altered her lips back in 2014.
However, in December of that year, she decided enough was enough and showed off her bruised lips after taking the plunge and finally getting her filler dissolved.
Speaking in a YouTube video where she discussed her more natural look, she explained how "something changed inside me".
The reality star, who also had a nose job in 2016 which left her £4k out of pocket at the time, added her late grandmother Jean wasn't a fan of the altered look she'd opted for.
"Me nana hated my lips, so if she knew I was getting this done, she'd be smiling from heaven," the 33-year-old said.
Pointing to her deflated pout, she continued: "I think you can tell when I'm talking how much the top one has just disappeared.
"I don't think they're going to go down much more than that because I always had a big bottom lip.
"A lot of my friends are saying that I look like a different person."
Speaking in an episode of her Always On podcast, she revealed parenthood also played a major part in her decision to deflate her plump pout for the first time eight years.
"I did not get my lips dissolved because of trolls, because, quite frankly, I've been trolled for so long about them and I did not care," Charlotte explained.
"I absolutely love my lips, but it got to the point after pregnancy, they had swelled a lot.
"I watched the Geordie Shore reunion and was like I looked ridiculous."
She then asked herself what her daughter Alba thinks when her mum's up in her face making silly noises.
"Can she even see us over those humongous lips?" Charlotte questioned. "Can she even see who I am as a person?"
Cosmetic consultant Lydia explains how Charlotte is "quite an extreme case" - adding that it’s clear that she wasn’t looking to achieve a "subtle, undetectable look".
The total cost of the treatment Charlotte could've had on her face is between £15-£20k
Lydia Badia, Consultant Surgeon
"I would say that in these pictures Charlotte has had around 5mls of filler in her lips, which in my opinion is way too much," she added.
She goes on to say that just like Molly-Mae, it’s unlikely Charlotte would have achieved her big pout in one session, meaning it's possible she could've had several lip filler treatments over time.
"This could have cost anything over £2,500 and beyond and a reversal would be a similar cost," Lydia explains.
"Charlotte has also had filler in her cheeks, as well as Botox and a rhinoplasty.
"This total cost of Charlotte's face could be up to £15,000 to £20,000, depending on who carried out the procedures.
"I think Charlotte looks approximately ten to twelve years younger since she's reversed her facial procedures."
CHLOE FERRY
Lydia says that like Charlotte, Chloe Ferry took her look to the "extreme" and estimates that the procedures she’s had done over the years "could have exceeded £100,000".
However, she notes that in her opinion, Chloe's decision to reverse many of her procedures has "knocked off a staggering twelve to thirteen years in her appearance".
The 28-year-old's relationship with cosmetic surgery started when she joined MTV’s Geordie Shore in 2015 at just 19-years-old.
She's since told how she's spent over £50k on surgery over the years - including on her breasts, cheeks, lips, chin, nose and eyebrows.
When asked by new! magazine if rumours were correct she'd forked out £50k on body modifications, she confessed: "It's a lot more, I can tell you that. £50k - I wish! I'm bankrupt... I'm not really [laughs]."
But it wasn't until August 2022 that she finally admitted that she'd gone too far.
“People would pick out my faults. People would say I had saggy boobs, even small boobs and small lips. When you are that young, you haven’t even grown up and you start to believe it," she told The Sun.
“I never even wanted to get my boobs done until people kept making comments. I thought I had amazing boobs. The comments just stuck in my head."
The reality TV star, who revealed she needed a skin graft to fix the dent in her face after suffering a botched “fox” eye lift, which costs around £800, jetted to Turkey for surgery to reduce her chest size in October 2020.
In a post shared to Instagram, she shared a snap of her old implants, comparing them to "dumplings" as she expressed her shock at their size.
"I've just had my drains taken out at the hospital," she explained. "It's two days after my surgery now, these are my new smaller boobs and I've had an uplift.
"But look, I can literally move around, I'm so fine, it didn't hurt getting the drains taken out."
Chloe, who has also had a Brazilian butt lift and liposuction - also revealed her decision to return to her natural pout after years of "abuse" and being called "fish lips" and "duck lips".
In November last year, the Geordie Shore star headed to her salon Beaute Lounge in Newcastle to get the procedure done.
"So the day has finally come... I am getting my lips dissolved," she told her followers.
"As you can see I've got quite a lot of migration there, so we're going to get all that migration gone."
The beauty salon captioned the post: "@chloegshore1 is starting her lip dissolving journey!
"Lip filler dissolving treatment is used to break down unwanted dermal filler.
"This procedure is a safe and comfortable way to return the lips to their natural size and shape.
"During treatment, hyaluronidase is injected into the lips."
Commenting on her more 'natural' appearance, Lydia says: "She looks so much younger and more natural now, having removed her fillers from her face.
"Chloe looks like she had around 4-5ml’s of filler in her lips alone and this would cost upwards of £2,500.
"She has also had at least 3-5ml’s in her face, so the total spend on her face could be around £5,000-£6000 - a reversal would be a similar cost."
ANNA VAKILI
Former Love Island star Anna Vakili was just 23-years-old when she forked out £5,500 on a boob job, which took her from a modest B-cup to an eye-popping E.
Despite initially undergoing surgery in a bid to feel sexy, seven years later, she revealed that she was desperate to have her “huge and heavy” breasts removed.
The 31-year-old told how they'd not only left her numb, but had caused her pain, lost her work and even impacted on her sex life.
“When I first got them done, I wanted to feel sexier. But it was a mistake thinking bigger boobs would do that," she said, speaking to Fabulous in November 2020.
“They really don’t and if I could turn back time I wouldn’t have done it."
She went onto explain her surgeon warned her the skin had stretched over the years, so it wasn't as simple as getting her natural boobs back.
Instead, she needed to have them taken out, smaller ones put in and then a boob lift to help "avoid the sagging".
"I’m going to a top surgeon and that’s why he’s so expensive. I’d rather pay the £11,000, just to be sure it’s right," she explained, speaking before the op at the time.
"The scarring will be bad but that’s the price I’m going to have to pay for what I did when I was younger."
Following the surgery, Anna has been vocal about the fact she's hoping to achieve a much more overall natural look - adding she's keen to reverse over £100,000 of surgery and body modifications.
"I used to get filler in my cheek bones, and I haven’t had that for a while. I used to get my nose filled at the top, and I used to get filler in my chin, but that’s dissolved now," she told The Sun in 2021.
"I used to have a little bit of filler put into my jaw – so all these things I’ve stopped. My face is going a lot more back to how it naturally looked."
I've spent about £100,000 in total on face and body tweakments
Anna Vakili
The reality star, who has previously spoken about her "horror" bum lift surgery in Turkey where she thought she was going to die, added: "If I could get all the money back that I’ve spent on fillers, hair extensions, my teeth, boobs and everything like that – I would be rich!!!
"I’ve spent hundreds of thousands let’s just say that. I’ve spent about £100,000 in total, and so has my sister."
Consultant surgeon Lydia commented: "Anna has been transparent about spending a total of £100,000 on her face and body over time before getting some of the procedures reversed.
"However, I think a lot of this cost will have gone on her face.
"In my opinion, Anna would have had around 3-4mls of filler in her lips over time, and this would have cost around £1,600-£2,000 alone and the same to reverse.
"In addition, Anna has filler in her cheeks and Botox so the total cost could be around £4,000-£5,000 over time.
"Anna has been open about having breast surgery and she might also have enhanced her bottom, judging by the images.
"Anna looks around seven to eight years younger since reversing her treatments.
