Kara shared the products she sells now which have changed her financial future

A FORMER waitress who lived off £14,000-a-year has revealed how she now earns £100,000 - and some of it is passive income.

Kara Perez, 34, was left with £23,000 worth of student debt when she graduated from college in 2011, and she was working part-time waiting tables at the time.

Speaking to , Kara revealed she had a “quarter-life crisis” and decided she needed to get her finances in order.

She said: “I didn’t want to continue being stuck in debt and living on £14,000 a year, so I started learning everything I could about personal finance.”

Kara set about trying various side hustles and being frugal with her money, and started to blog about her money-saving tips.

She added: “In addition to my catering gig, I took on part-time jobs as a social media manager, a high school lacrosse coach, and a freelance writer.

More on money-making

“All of that brought in anywhere from £700 to £1,300 a month, and I was working about 50 hours a week.”

In 2015, she paid off her debt.

Kara continued blogging and started earning money from it in 2017, thanks to product sales and sponsored posts.

This inspired her to launch an educational finance platform called Bravely Go that same year which “helps women create sustainable money habits.”

She initially invested £1,136 in starting it up, which went on a £9 GoDaddy domain name, £39 on website hosting, a £700 lawyer to draw up the website terms and privacy policy, and £241 establishing a Limited liability company.

Thankfully she made the money back within a month.

Now she brings in over £78,000 in sales and £21,000 in passive income and no longer has to worry about money.

Kara offers coaching services and has two courses - one which covers and another that covers - and sells workbooks.

She concluded: “Almost a decade ago, I was a single woman with a low income trying to get out of debt, and it seemed like there were no tangible resources out there for me.

"It’s been so gratifying to become a source of support and confidence for people going through the same thing.”
