Gooning – achieving prolonged arousal through sensory overload and hypnosis – was top of the list.

We have fallen out of love with dogging, spanking and foreplay while thirst traps and throuples are in.

The data shows a shift in sexual preferences and behaviours, largely influenced by Instagram and TikTok and changing generational views.

Sexual tastes are evolving, especially when it comes to ethical non-monogamy.

Throuples -- three-way relationships – are going to be a huge romp trend in 2024.

The data shows younger generations growing up in a digital world are turning their back on conventional romances and seeking something more open and free.

Are you ready to explore the future sex frontiers?

We reveal what’s set to be hot in the bedroom next year and what’s not. . .

COMING UP

Gooning +778%: This generally refers to a state of arousal or heightened pleasure from sensory overload.

This could be through erotic hypnosis or even blindfolding your partner.

Cutting off one of the senses, such as vision, will send the others into overdrive, upping your pleasure and chances of orgasm.

Femboy +504%: A popular Gen Z slang word for a young male who displays traditionally feminine characteristics.

It is all part of the move towards gender fluidity, which has been embraced by younger people.

Thirst Trap +335%: Posting sexy content on social media such as a bikini snap or a gym selfie to attract attention or validation.

From Emily Ratajkowski to Amanda Holden, celebs love this trend – and it seems us normals do, too.

Throuple +230%: An ethical love triangle where three individuals are in a consensual partnership.

Boxer David Haye, 43, was rumoured to be in a three-way relationship with singer Una Healy, 42, and his longtime girlfriend Sian Osborne, 31.

Edging +91%: A sex technique used by those who deliberately delay orgasm to either prolong sexual pleasure or combat premature ejaculation.

Get it right and it can result in your most powerful orgasms ever.

Findom +83%: Financial domination is a fetish where a “submissive” gets pleasure from giving gifts and money to a “dominant”.

There is no requirement of intimacy in this fetish, and the relationship can take place entirely online.

Shibari +62%: This is a form of Japanese rope bondage that involves intricate and beautiful patterns created with ropes on a person’s body.

It is seen as an art form and often staged at sex parties by performers.

OWO +57 %: An emoticon representing a surprised or curious facial expression – think of the Os as big eyes and the W as a mouth.

It is often used while sexting to express desire.

GOING DOWN

Cottaging -70%: Engaging in risky liaisons in public toilets or secluded outdoor areas.

An adrenaline rush during sex can help to increase feelings of excitement and pleasure, making the experience more enjoyable and satisfying.

Sploshing -54%: Popularised on TikTok, this food kink derives from people getting pleasure from the feeling of having food applied on their naked skin.

Samantha Jones from Sex And The City brought a whole new meaning to dining in style when she covered herself in sushi for her toyboy to eat off her.

Zental -53%: It may sound like some sort of dental plan but this term refers to those in the kink community who get pleasure from wearing a full- body, skin-tight suit made from spandex or nylon.

Micro penis -47%: Contrary to common belief, not all women love well-endowed men.

Some have a fetish for men whose member is smaller than average – often less than 2.8in when erect, to be exact.

There are even specialist dating apps like Dinky One which cater for those who think less is more.

Cybersex -45%: From sexting and naughty video calls, the internet has given rise to virtual ways to get your rocks off.

Zorgies – Zoom sex parties – were all the rage in lockdown but virtual romping has fallen out of fashion post pandemic.

Bondage -36%: A form of BDSM, made popular by the erotic 50 Shades Of Grey books, which involves tying up or restraining a partner for sexual pleasure.

Since then its become more mainstream – maybe so much so that we are just not searching for it any more.

Dogging -34%: Engaging in or getting pleasure from watching risky sexual activities in public places, often involving strangers.

Your local bobbies on the beat will be glad that its falling out of favour.

Spanking -33%: In consensual erotic spanking the sub is struck on the buttocks either with the dom’s hand or an implement like a paddle or whip.

If you are trying this make sure you have a safe word in case you want it to stop.

Foreplay -32%: Disappointing news for 75 per cent of women who don’t orgasm from intercourse alone.

Generally, ladies rely on a helping hand to get over the finish line. By taking starters off the menu I worry about the impact this will have on female pleasure.
