This hides them from their prey and predators.

The grey rocky scenery helps the mother stay hidden and protect her babies.

The moss-covered rocks with splashes of blue water make it difficult for the eye to focus on looking for the birds.

In addition to this, the ducks are so well camouflaged that their feathers almost mimic grey rocks covered in brown weeds.

In this case, it is their small heads that do not quite fit in with the shapes of the surrounding rocks.
