Buddy the Elf Spaghetti: How can I make the Christmas treat?
ELF'S famous breakfast scene sees Buddy, played by Will Ferrell, enjoy a heaping plate of pasta mixed with a host of sweet treats.
Now, fans of the classic Christmas film want to know how to make their own Buddy the Elf Spaghetti.
- Kosher salt
- One vanilla bean
- 12 ounces of spaghetti
- Four tablespoons of unsalted butter
- One-fourth cup of heavy cream
- One-fourth cup of chocolate syrup, plus more for drizzling
- One-fourth cup of pure maple syrup, plus more for drizzling
- Two tablespoons of sprinkles, plus more for topping
- Two chocolate toaster pastries, toasted and cut into squares
- Mini marshmallows for topping
- Candy-coated chocolates for topping
- Candy corn for topping
First, boil a medium pot of salted water. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and add the halves of the pod to the pot. Add and cook the pasta.
While the pasta and vanilla are cooking, heat the butter and heavy cream in a large skillet over medium heat until the butter melts.
Using a whisk, mix in the chocolate syrup, maple syrup, one-fourth teaspoon of salt, and one-half cup of pasta water. Bring to a simmer and lower the heat "until lightly syrupy" while the pasta cooks.
Then, save about one-fourth cup of the pasta water before draining the spaghetti and disposing of the vanilla bean halves.
Add the pasta to the skillet and toss it to coat in the sauce. If it seems dry, add a small amount of pasta water. Food Network notes that there should be "a thin film of syrupy sauce at the bottom of the skillet."
Add the sprinkles, using tongs to mix them evenly throughout the pasta.
