Mother of the groom stuns with ‘inappropriate’ dress, it’s not just the color, it also comes from a bridal boutique
ALTHOUGH wedding guest etiquette is pretty well known, one mother-of-the-groom caused a stir with the dress she was thinking of wearing.
Her daughter shared a photo of the frock on Reddit, and users thought it was a bad idea.
In a Reddit , a woman revealed the dress her mother was planning to wear to the son’s nuptials.
“My mom wants to wear this to my brother's and soon-to-be sister-in-law’s wedding... Thoughts...” she wrote in the post.
Although the dress featured pink and beige florals, the backdrop was crisp winter white – a usual no-no for any wedding guests.
It was also floor length and had a bustier-style top with spaghetti straps, making it extra bridal.
In a second photo, she shared the accessories the mother was thinking of adding: a pale pink cardigan with a matching fascinator hat, and pink pumps.
Although the daughter said she knows “it’s not white,” Reddit users disagreed.
“How is that not white...?” one person wondered.
“It’s not that hard to find a not-white dress,” added a second, agreeing with someone who said it would give a bad impression to the new in-laws.

“It’s literally a white dress. I wouldn’t even bother asking the bride about this one, just look for something else,” a third wrote.
“It's a wedding dress. My sister owns a wedding dress boutique, and this looks like one of the gowns she carries,” a fourth chimed in.
In a follow-up comment, the woman did admit that the dress was from a bridal salon – but she said the sister-in-law didn’t outright shut it down.
“My sister-in-law was at her dress fitting and this is a dress they sell for guests. Both her and my brother are on the fence. I am too.”
That’s when other Reddit users noted that “on the fence” meant no.
“If your bro and his bride are ‘on the fence,’ they’re trying not to rock the boat. Rock the boat for them and get her to get a different dress,” one argued.
“Your future SIL being ‘on the fence’ is code for she doesn’t like it but is trying to be nice and avoid confrontation. Do her a solid and tell your mom this ain’t it,” agreed another.
