Mary Berry’s ‘favourite’ chocolate brownies are super gooey and made in 10 minutes
MARY Berry is the undisputed Queen of British baking with many of us relying on her cookbooks.
Whilst she might not be on Bake Off anymore, her brownie recipe is still the best and can be made in just 10 minutes!
For those of you looking for a sweet treat over the festive season, here is her simple recipe which guarantees the gooiest brownies – even after baking!
If you are wanting to become a star baker, here is the step-by-step method and it should take you just ten minutes to make the batter!
Unlike in the tricky technicals, you can begin by simply preheating an oven to 180°C, 160°C Fan or Gas 4.
Whilst you are waiting for this, you can grease a 30 x 23cm (12 x 9in) baking tray and then line it with non-stick baking paper.

This should be big enough to make 24 squares, although you can easily adjust the recipe depending on the size of the baking tins you have at home.
Though other recipes require milk chocolate, the domestic goddess advises you to use 360g (12 1/2 oz) of Bournville plain chocolate – which gives this desert an extra decadent flavour.
Now is the perfect time to get out any frustration, as you break the dark chocolate into pieces and add to a large heat proof bowl along with 225g (8oz) of butter.
Bring a pan of water to a simmer and place the bowl on top, allowing your ingredients to melt and slowly combine.

Once this is done, you can add four beaten eggs and 225g (8oz) of light muscovado sugar.
Mix well before adding 75g (3oz) of self-raising flour, one teaspoon of vanilla extract and 75g (3oz) of chocolate chips.
Then bake for 45 minutes, whilst you catch up on the latest episode of Bake Off!
Before removing your brownies from the oven, you’ll need to make sure that they have risen and are cooked through but still slightly squidgy in the centre.
When they are done, leave to cool for 10 minutes before cutting into squares – or slabs depending on how hungry you are.
Not only will this recipe guarantee great brownies, the recipe can made up to days in advance and the batter can also be frozen – making it perfect for the festive season.
