The 33-year-old had “intense brain fog” and “constant stomach aches and nausea”, which got so bad that she couldn’t get out of bed some days.

If you have damp and mould in your home, you're more likely to have respiratory problems and infections, allergies and asthma

They can also weaken your immune system - something Aaryn and her family horrifically experienced.

“Mould illness is terrifying because you have no idea why you’re sick in most cases, until you’re late in the game,” Aaryn shared.

“My skin kept getting progressively worse, my kids had mystery rashes, I had intense brain fog and exhaustion, constant stomach aches and nausea.”

Among the types of mould in her house were Stachybotrys, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Alternaria and common Cladosporium.

“We are so grateful to have found it but mostly that our health is recovering unlike so many who will have irreversible damage due to mould,” Aaryn added.

“If you think you might have mould in your house, I recommend an ERMI test. Air samples missed this in our home.”

Mould is a fungus caused by excess moisture in the home, and it becomes more dangerous when temperatures drop in the winter.

It can thrive on practically any surface and produces substances that can cause an allergic reaction, irritants and toxic substances.

Inhaling or touching mould spores may cause an allergic reaction, such as sneezing, a runny nose, red eyes and skin rash.

Aaryn first found mould in her bathtub and quickly moved her four daughters out of the house.

“Sometimes when I’m washing my face or doing my make-up, I remember when my entire family was living with toxic mould but we had no idea,” she said.

“My babies had more minor rashes periodically, but I always wonder how it affected them on an unseen level.

“When I notice how much we are all thriving outside of the house, I’m thankful.

“But I pray for those who have no way to remediate or leave.”
