The waffle was created by the hotel brand Hampton by Hilton, after research of 2,000 adults found three in 10 claim to be more experimental with their morning meals, with 59 per cent open to trying unusual food combos.

Pauline Wilson, vice president, focused service operations, EMEA, Hilton, said: “With more than half of Brits being more experimental with their morning meals at hotels we're excited to offer our guests the British Breakfast Waffle Trio - a loving tribute to the iconic traditional fry-up."

The study found Londoners take the title for being the most daring (53 per cent) at breakfast time, while the Welsh (77 per cent) and those in the East of England (77 per cent) admit to lacking in the creative department for the first meal of the day.

The cult favourite Maccies breakfast menu has remained pretty much the same over the years, with the standard meal including a main item, drink and a hash brown.

However, the popular fast-food chain has now introduced a brand new "Saver" breakfast meal deal where you can opt for just a main item and a hot drink.

As part of the bargain deal, you can pair a regular hot drink with a Cheesy Bacon Flatbread for £2.99 or a single sausage and egg, bacon and egg or egg and cheese McMuffin with a hot drink for £3.49.

Hot drinks available with the deal include a regular flat white, latte, cappuccino, black/white coffee or hot chocolate to keep you toasty in the chilly mornings.

If you opted for a single McMuffin and a regular latte you'd save £2.29 - or 40% - by using the deal rather than buying the items separately, while you would save 89p with the flatbread offer.

However, it's also worth noting that the deal comes with a slight catch.

Cash-saving foodies will need to use the McDonald's app in order to get the deal and it's only available for pick-up.

The Sun understands the deal is available nationwide and will be in place at least until the end of the year.
