CRINGE FACTOR

I won a treadmill on a TV game show but have no feet – it was still the best day, I think it’s hilarious

PEOPLE are cringing like mad after a US game show awarded a disabled woman a prize she couldn’t use.

Danielle Perez was a contestant on American TV show The Price Is Right and won two expensive gifts thanks to her brilliant skill.

Back in 2015, the quick-witted lady guessed the price right for a chance to play on the famous show and managed to win herself a treadmill and a walk-in sauna.

But there was a huge problem with the prizes - she didn’t have any feet to use them.

Danielle uses a wheelchair as she lost her legs in an accident some years ago.

The clip of her gameplay was found on YouTube, and people can’t stop cringing about the inappropriate prizes.

Danielle was ushered onto the stage after winning a multiplayer round, exclaiming her excitement to the host.

But the beaming contestant was taken aback when her prizes were revealed.

In the clip, the doors open to unveil a brand new treadmill and a walk-in sauna - and Danielle’s face is a picture.

“Oh my gosh,” she gushes, eyes wide at her prizes. “Those are really nice.”

Describing the gifts, the voiceover states: “This folding treadmill features 24 built-in speed and incline programmes, plus a touch screen with USB hook-up.”

It’s a stunning prize, but a kick in the teeth for the wheelchair user, who may appreciate a more thoughtful item.

The second item, the voiceover explains is “a three person [walk-in] infra-red sauna with ergonomic backrests and seven colour therapy lights.”

The host displays a price tag of $3,695 and asks Danielle: “Is that price for the treadmill or the sauna?”

Savvy Danielle guesses the sauna - and she’s correct.

She won both prizes in the show thanks to her answer and looks thrilled, despite not being able to use the treadmill.

Danielle saw the funny side and even made a meme of herself on Twitter after the show.

Sharing a picture of her bemused face, she wrote: “When you win a treadmill on national TV but you have no feet.”

She later told American news programme CNN: “I kept thinking that it was a really big joke, but everyone seemed genuinely excited for me that I won.”

Reacting to Danielle’s win, one viewer wrote: “For the first time ever I saw a woman in a wheelchair make it on the Price Is Right. Her prize was a treadmill. God is very very cruel.”

A second replied: “A woman with no legs won a treadmill on the Price is Right today. From now on when you look up "awkward" on Google, that clip will play.”

And a third commented: “Good on The Price is Right for selecting a woman in a wheelchair to come on down. And congrats to the young lady and her new treadmill.”
