I launched a petition for big people to get extra plane seats for FREE – now I want hotels to make their hallways wider
A PLUS-SIZE influencer who petitioned for airlines to give larger passengers extra seats for free has made another unique demand.
Jaelynn Chaney has turned her attention to the hotel industry and called on hospitality bosses to widen hallways in hotels.
The 25-year-old is a size 6XL and wants hotels to have more “size-inclusive” amenities.
Jaelynn says she is “on a mission to revolutionise the travel industry” so that larger people are more comfortable going on their holidays.
She regularly jets off to exotic locations across the globe and documents the struggles of travelling as a plus-size person on social media.
“The needs of plus-sized travellers matter just as much as anybody else,” she said in a recent TikTok video.
“We deserve an environment that respects our needs and body diversity.”
The body positivity influencer, from Vancouver, Canada, called on hotels to make hallways more “spacious” to accommodate larger guests.
She added that it’s paramount that hotels advertise having wider hallways on their websites so “people of different body shapes” are aware before booking.
Among her other demands was hotels to remove armrests from chairs, make elevator lifts bigger, train staff to be “more accommodating” for plus-size people and hotel restaurants introduce “roomy” dining areas.

Jaelynn also suggested that toilets in hotel rooms should be raised and fitted with grab bars.
Back in April, she claimed that she was left "bruised" after a domestic flight in the US due to having to squeeze her body into one seat.
She slammed the Federal Aviation Authority and demanded airlines implement a "customer-of-size policy", calling on an aviation body to overhaul its seating requirements.
Jaelynn believes larger people are discriminated against and deserve an extra seat or two for free for their bigger frames.
She then launched an online petition asking for change, which was backed by fellow plus-size travellers.
The influencer gained over 7st in 2019 after she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), pulmonary hypertension and high blood pressure in the blood vessels connected to the lungs,
Her video demanding wider hotel hallways ruffled a few feathers.
“As someone in hotel management, many budgets simply wouldn’t allow for this,” someone retaliated.
