She also gets 41p pasta, 85p ham, 83p soft cheese, 49p breadsticks, 49p jam and cream biscuits, 28p peas in a can, and a pack of six bread rolls for 55p.

“A lot of schools unfortunately don’t allow treats, so this was the healthiest option I could think of and also being full at the same time.

“So 11 items in total for £4.98.”

The only other item she needed was mayonnaise which she already had in the cupboard.

Day one of her lunches was a “ham and pea pasta”, with the apple snack bag and two biscuits.

Meanwhile, day two was a ham sandwich, with some breadsticks, carrots, some cheese dip and three biscuits.

Her son got the same “ham and pea pasta” for day three, and she added half a banana and three biscuits.

The fourth day consisted of a cheese sandwich, two pieces of ham, some breadsticks with cheese spread, half a banana and two biscuits.

Finally, day five was a cheese sandwich, breadsticks, carrots with cheese dips and three biscuits.

Many people were quick to praise her ideas, with one saying: “These meals are amazing! I’m going to give this a try next week for my four boys because I know they would all eat this! Brilliant!”

Another added: “I love how you change up the days even with the same ingredients.”

Nikki explained in the comments how her kid’s school does offer school dinner, but they are expensive.

She wrote: “Yes for a charge per day which is usually double of the packed lunches. They personally are not the greatest and portion sizes can be very small.”
