HOUSE THAT?

I bought a tiny box home after my kids flew the nest – it’s only 16ft but there’s more than enough room for me

LIVING in a tiny home isn't for everyone, but for this woman it's exactly what she wanted.

After her kids moved out Karen felt like she had way too much space in her home, so decided to massively downsize.

At first she tried living in an large RV, but after just over a year in there she wanted something smaller still and got a 18ft trailer instead.

But Karen still felt she wanted something else, so bought a 16ft box home for herself and her cat to live in, she told on YouTube.

Even though her box home is smaller than her old trailer it has a regular toilet and bigger shower, which she admitted is loads better.

Inside the house is a lot like a studio flat with everything in the same space.

Karen's bed is right next to her computer and kitchen, but that doesn't bother her - in fact, having everything so close is only a bonus for the mum.

Asself described minimalist, Karen didn't worry much about how she would fit everything in the tiny space, but she did still install some savvy storage solution.s

Her bed is raised so there's plenty of space for boxes and clothes underneath, in the kitchen she added floating shelves for her plates and food storage too.

And she installed a pull out rack for all her seasoning and spices too.

In terms of interior design she wanted to keep things light and bright, so stuck to a light grey theme throughout the space.

"I wanted a focus wall here at the back of the house, so I went on Amazon and bought this self stick wallpaper that I applied, just to give it a different look from the other walls in the house," she explained.

Karen spent roughly £16,000 to buy the home, which was a blank slate.

But after putting her own touches inside it's now her dream home.

She keeps the tiny home in a mobile park, where she pays £320 a month in rent for the space.

"Owning a tiny house and having cheaper rent, not having a mortgage anymore, I've been working paying off bills and go out every weekend to karaoke with my friends, and hang out.

"I'm able to go and do things just live life," she said.
