The beauty expert – who people think looks years younger – said there are several things you can do to make yourself appear more youthful without going under the knife or using super expensive treatments.

And to show exactly how she thought it could be done, Nikol let her fans in on the secrets of her thought process – and how they too can achieve her ‘instant make-up face lift.’

In a video posted to her YouTube channel , the 47-year-old explained that her method could be used on anyone aged 40 or above.

She then promised: “This is going to be a huge game changer for you.”

Nikol then showed how she was totally bare faced so that everyone could see the full results as she went.

After making sure her make-up brushes were thoroughly cleaned, she continued: “First and foremost, we’re going to prep the skin.

“That is my tip, ladies. If you want to have your make-up really work for you, you’re going to be prepping your skin, working with your skin and being consistent with your skin.”

The US-based esthetician then recommended investing in a cleanser and moisturiser, as opposed to just a soap.

Nikol said that they didn’t have to be expensive, but that it would be much more effective and ensure that your make-up will go on smoothly.

Next up, she applied a hydrating eye balm to the corners of her eyes – in her case Kjaer Weis Eye Balm – and said that would help target fine lines and crows feet.

She went on to say: “I use balm, I use oils, I try to put as much hydration into my skin.

“You want to infuse your skin as much as you can.”

After applying four drops of Avene’s Mineral Fluid Sun Protection SPF 50+ to her entire face she continued to work it in, before reaching for her trusty make-up brushes to start the ‘face lift.’

The first part of that process was to perfect the eyes, as she opted to use an eyeshadow primer and corrector followed by a Charlotte Tilbury’s eyeshadow palette to achieve a natural look.

Nikol explained the primer was essential for the ‘face lift’ look as it evened out her dark eyelids and ensured they were ready for a light layer of make-up.

She then said it was important to highlight the brow bone with a lighter shade, but then adding depth and a darker colour in the corner to achieve a lifted look.

Colour corrector over 40 is going to be your best friend

After cleaning up any excess powder underneath the eye, curling her lashes and applying eyeliner and mascara in a non-heavy way, it was time to move on to the next part of the face – the eyebrows.

She said: “The brows can give you an instant face lift – even if you were wearing no make-up.”

Nikol then showed exactly what she meant as she took one of her own brand brow pencils and filled in her brows.

She explained: “Here’s my biggest tip for you – you don’t want to bring your brow all the way down further than your eye.

“I stop a little bit shorter as I want to lift the brow, but I don’t want to drag it down. You don’t want to close off the eye.”

After framing the face with her eye make-up, Nikol’s next focus was on the skin and correcting common mistakes, such as putting too much light concealer directly under the eye and making it stand out.

Instead, the make-up pro said the key was to use a colour corrector. She said: “What I like to do is address the issue with a colour corrector, I don’t find using a concealer as I age is going to be the right thing to do.

“I can use a concealer over it if I feel like I need more coverage, but I really go in with a colour corrector in any redness,” she added as she applied the green-tinged colour corrector to her face and a peachy shade to under her eye.

She added: “I’m lightening up my skin. That is what’s so important to give you that face lift – not just use a concealer and think, ‘why’s it not covering? Why does it look so grey? Why does it look so dark?’

“Colour corrector over 40 is going to be your best friend. It’s going to completely and dramatically change your skin and you will see it when you start using it.”

Next, Nikol added to her base with a light BB cream from Nikol Beauty, rather than a heavy foundation.

Nikol said: “This is going to hydrate your skin, and give you that flawless finish, but not be so heavy or I look like I caked on so much make-up.”

The “radiant glow” was then finished off with a cream blush applied with her fingers to the parts of her cheeks that would redden if she went for a run or got hot.

She followed this with a small amount of light, cream bronzer to again lift the cheeks and boost her youthful glow.

The final step was to define the lips with lip liner and add a soft pink or nude to make them appear more plump.

The final results? Nikol concluded: “This is how to get those really great techniques over 40.

“This is how to honour your beauty, love your beauty and doing all of this process – whether you do one thing, all of them, or you just try a colour corrector or BB cream.”
