BED HEAD

I make £400 a month with a unique side hustle – but it involves renting out the empty side of your bed

A BRAZEN woman has revealed how her no-effort side hustle earns her nearly £400 a month… but there’s a major catch.

Monique Jeremiah shares the empty side of her bed with someone she ISN’T in a relationship with in what she describes as a “business transaction”.

The concept is known as hot bedding, whereby multiple tenants of a home share a bed - both together and in ‘shifts’.

When the tenants are in bed together, 36-year-old Monique assured that things are totally platonic.

This is something she has to be particularly firm on considering her most recent hot-bed buddy was her ex-boyfriend.

“I’m an entrepreneur, I’m used to thinking outside of the box,” she says.

“Honestly, I see it as a business transaction.”

Monique, from Queensland, Aus, charges people $170 a week to shack up in her bed - which works out around £85.50 a week.

Over the course of a year, her unusual side hustle can earn her just short of £4500.

The money helps her pay off her mortgage and includes electricity, water and internet bills for the sub-tenant.

Monique decided to market off the empty space in her bed during the pandemic when she didn’t want to be locked down alone.

Her ex-lover, who worked between two cities, jumped at the chance for a comfy bed at a bargain price.

The pair would go to bed around 10pm but rarely interact, instead favouring to put their headphones in and have alone time.

“I would do it again in a heartbeat,” Monique tells .

But she also warned about the dangers of hot bedding and urged homeowners to be cautious before offering up half of their mattress.

“Make sure the person has good values, they are open-minded, respectful and only want a platonic relationship,” she says.

“I think someone with a good business mind and someone who values companionship would be great.”

Due to her demanding work schedule as a model, reality TV star and entrepreneur, she hasn’t found the time to hot bed in recent months.

However, it's something Monique would definitely consider again in the future to help pay her mortgage and beat the Sunday Scaries.

Monique appeared on Farmer Wants a Wife Australia earlier this year.

She pursued Latin dance-loving Andrew, a crop and sheep farmer from New South Wales, Aus.
