I bought a £700k home on Neighbours’ Ramsay Street – I saw the real life actors & we even had a security guard

A MAN who bought a £700,000 house on Neighbours' Ramsay Street has opened up about the realities of actually living there.

Miles Shackley lives in 5 Pin Oak Court, Vermont South - aka 28 Ramsay Street - with partner Hayley Jones.

The couple moved in to the property, which they won at auction for £700k, in March 2020.

And living on Ramsay Street took some getting used to.

There was a full-time security guard, employed by Fremantle Media - the producers of the Australian soap - who constantly kept an eye on the neighbourhood.

As well as that, there were always opportunities to spot some action being filmed on their road.

“I thought we would be more starstruck than we were when we met the cast,” Mr Shackley told

“Though I did have a thing for Susan Kennedy back in the day, when I was 11 years old and she (Jackie Woodburne) was on Prisoner: Cell Block H.

"But I’ve not met her."

Miles and Hayley even plotted to see how they could get their two cats into the shot when the on-street scenes were being filmed.

And Miles was even called in to be an extra one day - and starred as "man in coffee shop" in two episodes of the show.

"It's basically what I do in real life, I sit down have a cup of coffee and try and do some work, so it wasn't really that hard to be honest," he told the .

While Neighbours was being filmed on Ramsay Street, Miles and Hayley were banned from doing any major work to the outside of their house.

And even though the show has come to an end - albeit temporarily as it's been picked up as a new series - the pair won't be making much of a change to their home.

"It's a tourist attraction. People still love it," he said.

"People still come specifically to see it.

"When it's not a tourist attraction it's still a nice street with nice people, nice neighbours and a nice area."
