I found out I could be a secret millionaire when I learnt about a account I never knew I had – I thought it was a scam

A WOMAN has revealed how she discovered she may be a secret millionaire after finding a mysterious bank account tied to her social security number.

The TikTok creator said she was mysteriously contacted by an investment company who claimed to have an account attached to her originally opened by her dad. 

Steffi said in a TikTok video online: “I could potentially be a millionaire and not even know.”

She said: “Got an email tonight from my dad who had sent me a copy of some letter from an investment company.”

“It was addressed to me, sent to his house.”

Steffi confessed even her dad didn’t know about the account or the investment company. 

His dad assumed: "This must have just been some random savings account that I opened up for you with Credit Union. And then they ended up getting bought out by this other company, and then they transferred everything over to this new company.”

The TikTok creator said she decided to proceed with caution as she believed she may have been roped into a scam. 

She said: “Probably like five bucks. It's nothing. He would have done this 20 plus years ago.”

The TikTok creator decided to contact the investment company to find out more. 

She said: “I give them a call, you know, explain the situation.

Once speaking to the adviser Steffi learned that the account was in her fathers name but attached to her social security number.

They said: “Your dad has an account. His name is on it, but your social Security number is attached to it.”

The advisor informed Steff both her and her father would need to provide their details in person in order to get more information. 

But Steffi confessed she lived very far from her parents but the advisor hinted that the two hour trip would be well worth it. 

The advisor said: “What I can tell you is that it appears that your dad was trying to take care of you. What I will tell you, from what I can see here, your father loves you very much.”

But the creator was stunned to learn later that her father had made the journey without her without giving her an update. 

Now Steffie believes that her father is hiding something from her. 

She said: “My dad’s clearly hiding something.”
