We test eyeshadow sticks at all price points – and here’s why they’re a makeup bag staple

WHETHER you’re a make-up pro or a newbie, eyeshadow sticks are the quickest and easiest way to achieve an eyeshadow look that lasts all day.

This week, I’ve been trying three of the best.

Budget

Coupled with the pointed tip, it also means the sticks easily double as eyeliner

e.l.f. No Budge Matte Shadow Stick, (£5 ): I love that this formula is matte.

Most shadow sticks are glittery which can feel a bit OTT for every day.

It’s really pigmented, so you get great colour with one swipe.

Coupled with the pointed tip, it also means the sticks easily double as eyeliner.

It doesn’t budge, so is great for anyone with oily eyelids.

It doesn’t settle into creases or imprint on the brow bone if you have hooded eyes.

You’ll also need a hard-working oil cleanser to remove it. But for the price, you can’t go wrong!

My fave.

Mid-range

I can’t wait for the company to bring out more shades, as currently they’re all quite similar

Rare Beauty All Of The Above Weightless Eyeshadow Stick, £21 :  Most of the Rare Beauty products I’ve tried are quite minimal and fall into the no make-up, make-up category, but this is different.

I couldn’t find a shade I didn’t like so brought all six home with me.

Even the lighter shades are super-pigmented, and the shimmer isn’t too chunky but still looks glittery, which makes it ideal for creating a low-maintenance smokey eye for special occasions.

Plus the shades are easy to blend with each other, which isn’t always the case.

I can’t wait for the company to bring out more shades, as currently they’re all quite similar.

Luxury

The stick’s slanted tip makes it easier to get a straight line that hugs the lashes

Hourglass Voyeur Eyeshadow Stick, £33, : The stick is very soft, so don’t wind it up too far or it may snap, as I found out.

The creaminess means you have slightly longer to blend it out, but once it sets, it lasts ages.

Some of the lighter shades are quite sheer, so you have to add a couple of layers to build them up, whereas with the darker shades a little goes a really long way.

The stick’s slanted tip makes it easier to get a straight line that hugs the lashes and it’s also easier to maintain whereas a pointed tip can go flat quickly.
