Madison works as a chief stew and said she feels like she has “beaten the system” and got an incredible yachting lifestyle, despite not getting a university degree.

On her account, she explained: “Realising you can beat the system by working as a superyacht stewardess, travel the world and save enough money to buy a house as a 24-year-old who never graduated uni."

She has worked in the industry for numerous years and explored stunning destinations such as Antigua, Bahamas and Barcelona on her days off.

Madison said you can earn anything from $30,000 (£23,000) to $50,000 (£39,000) as a starting salary when you enter the yachting industry.

More on jobs

However, most workers gain generous tips on top of that.

She added that you can save all the money you earn as you live onboard with zero living costs.

Madison advised: “you'll need to relocate to a yachting hub to start looking for work/networking, for example I'm Australian and flew to Spain to start my career.”

There are a few yachting qualifications you need before you start, but the chief stew added: “It is different depending on the department you want to work in! Departments are interior, deck, galley and engineering.

“Mostly safety certificates (takes around 5 days), depending on which department you work in.

“Once you’re qualified you apply for jobs via crew agents, yachting FB groups, dockwalking and networking.”

Many people seemed sold on the idea, with one saying: "Need to do something like this."

Another added: "Here for it."
