Soap & Glory Hydrate Expectations softening body serum, £9.99 for 250ml, : If you’re a fan of Soap & Glory, you will love this.

It’s got the brand’s classic sugary-sweet scent and promises to hydrate limbs for up to 72 hours.

But I felt the need to top up after a few hours, and the smell is slightly too saccharine for me, which means I probably won’t reach for it in future.

That said, the formula is really silky and easy to rub in.

It’s not at all greasy so you can apply is before getting dressed and it won’t leave marks on your clothes.

Mid-range

Nécessaire The Body Serum ticks all the texture boxes being lightweight and fast-absorbing

Nécessaire The Body Serum ticks all the texture boxes being lightweight and fast-absorbing

Nécessaire The Body Serum, £40 for 150ml, : The most advanced of all three body serums I tested – with soothing, skin-loving niacinamide as well as hyaluronic acid and ceramide to moisturise skin.

The brand recommends using a body cream on top but I have quite dry limbs and don’t feel the need to, and a little goes a long way.

Again, it ticks all the texture boxes being lightweight and fast-absorbing.

It’s the only one of the three I tried that is fragrance free, and also hypo-allergenic, which makes it great for anyone with sensitive skin.

As there’s no fragrance, it also means it layers well with perfume, so I reach for it the most due to that.

Luxury

Tatcha Hinoki body milk, £50 for 132ml, : The weightless texture means this is more serum-like than lotion.

Part of the brand’s new Forest Awakening collection, I expected the scent to be too botanical for my liking but I was wrong.

It’s a spa-like fresh citrus scent that lasts hours.

It absorbs almost instantly and leaves skin feeling soft so there’s no need to reapply.

I also love the pump packaging.

And while two to three pumps is enough for each body part, so it should last a month or so, I would love it to come in a larger size.
