People are only just realising they’ve been using toilet cleaners wrong – and the right way is so simple

IT doesn't matter how many times you've cleaned your toilet before, there's still one thing you're probably getting totally wrong.

But don't worry, it turns out loads of people had no idea there's a different way to put in the toilet rim block.

You might've been putting them under your toilet seat so the plastic hooks around the edge, but according to one cleaning fan there's a better way.

Posting on Instagram, @homehacksco shared the woman's trick and it's leaving people amazed.

So, how are you meant to do it?

Apparently, you can push the plastic hook under the rim of the bowl, which will keep it in place and won't leave your seat feeling wonky.

They captioned the post: "Who else was today years old then they found out how to do this?"

The video has since amassed over 220k views, with many people left divided by the hack.

Other keen cleaners couldn't believe they hadn't thought of the method before and many raced to the bathrooms to try it out.

"No way, that's crazy - I'm going to try this right now," one person commented.

And a second said: "I had no clue. lol.";

That said, others weren't convinced by the trick and said it didn't work on their toilets.

"It depends on the size of the toilet, I've tried this and it doesn't work," one said.

Another wrote: "It depends on the type [of cleaning block] I think."

"It's designed like that so you don't have to touch it when replacing it," someone else noted.
