Mother-of-the-groom is savaged for wearing a floor-length white gown to her son’s big day as people call her ‘selfish’
A MUM has been utterly rinsed for the outfit she wore to her son's wedding ceremony.
Despite it being a rule for most weddings not to wear white unless you're the bride, the mother-of-the-groom caused an uproar by doing just that.
Before the big day, the mum shared some pictures of her glamourous dress in a family group chat, leaving the bride in an awkward position.
The outfit had off-white slip dress with a sheer layer on top with lots of intricate lace and floral designs.
The bride's sister shared the pictures on Reddit, where people agreed the outfit was totally inappropriate for her to wear.
The groom's mum was even slammed for trying to outshine the bride on her big day, which took place last year.
One person said: "She was 100 per cent intentionally trying to upstage your sister. She was on some type of power trip with this being her first-born's wedding."
A second agreed: "I mean, if the theme is 'everyone wear a wedding dress' then she nailed it.
"If it’s literally any other wedding theme this is absolutely wildly inappropriate."
And someone else slammed: "Hell no. Looks like the mother-of-the-groom wants attention in a bad way and will receive attention, but not the type she thinks."

After the outfit was savaged online, the bride's sister chimed in to defend the groom's mum, but agreed her dress choice was 'crazy'.
She explained in the : "They're a close family and they all get along with my sister, before and after the wedding! She's a super sweet lady but it was just such an odd choice and came out of left field.
"I think she was just clueless to social expectations. The wedding was in Mexico so I think she thought the dress was beachy, golden and not white so it would be okay."
After the mum shared the snaps of the dress in the group chat, the sister confessed the bride felt like she couldn't say no.
But people still though the groom's mum knew exactly what she was doing by choosing the dress.
"You have to live on Mars not to realise this is is entirely inappropriate. I would have been p***ed," one person wrote.
