, Taylor explained how he has always had injuries to contend with including issues in his lower back and knees.
He explained to the media organization how weightlifting usually impacts the joints after a number of years but he has not had to change up his exercises.
The Mr. Olympia winner said: "I’ve had back injuries long before I got into bodybuilding. My knees were always a problem.
"I recall having to tape my knees in order to run, play football, or track.
"The advice given was 'stop doing any exercise that required something that’s going to feed back as a joint issue.'
"It was like, 'Man, I’m gonna stay away from those exercises.'"
By training smarter, he has been fortunate and able to avoid more serious injuries, he said.
Taylor who famously made his gains on a diet of Coca-Cola, red meat, and ketchup, still stands by his methods.
He explained that his diet "hasn’t changed a whole lot" because his body has adapted over the years to it.
Taylor continued: "I’m doing just fine with my meat and my Coke, and sometimes my French fries! It’s crazy.
"I still eat pretty much the same. Very limited amounts of food, I don’t have a big appetite, I never did. I was never that bodybuilder that ate 7 or 8 meals a day, I couldn’t do that, it’s just too much food."
The 66-year-old eats two to three meals per day and has had his favorite fizzy drink every day since the age of 12.
"I have not stopped drinking my Coca-Cola from day one," he said.
Taylor added: "I’ve been drinking Coke since I was 12 years old religiously every day!
"I drink protein shakes second to Coca-Cola."
