I found a tiny home on Craigslist for $4.5k – I transformed the old ambulance into my dream house, it took a lot of work
IMPRESSIVE before-and-after images show how a crafty DIYer transformed an ambulance into the tiny home of his dreams.
Michael Talley bought a used ambulance from a landscaping company on Craigslist for $4,500 and later sold it for $30,000.
Talley, based in Austin, Texas, spent about $10,000 on repairs to the ambulance that he bought in late 2018, according to .
He documented his hard work converting the ambulance on his page, saying: "Four months to build while working full time and avoiding the crippling Texas heat.
"Yes, people probably died in there, but people's lives were also saved so I feel like it's a wash."
The 1992 Ford E-350 7.3 Diesel now includes a 42-inch TV, fridge, freezer, a rooftop deck with a solar panel, and small patch for golfing.
The tiny home also features a king-sized bed, which Talley says was a priority as he is well over six-foot tall.
He started to envision his home after he relocated electric boards, rewired electrics, and cleaned out mold.
“It's always easier to build something new than to try to alter something that already has been built," he said.
Space was Talley’s main focus so he decided to leave out a bathroom and toilet from his home.

Before buying the ambulance, he was already living on the road using gym showers and public restrooms.
He gave some advice to people thinking about renovating a vehicle into a tiny home.
When it comes to designing the layout, the vehicle should be thought of like a really nice car instead of a really small home, according to Talley.
"The smaller you go, the more flexibility you'll have on the road," he said.
Talley kept costs low by utilizing parts of the pre-existing ambulance to make counter tops for his kitchen.
The renovation was completed using a variety of materials, including concrete countertops and bamboo hardwood flooring.
After a year-and-a-half of living in the tiny home, Talley was able to sell it for $30,000.
Lots of interest has been shown in Talley's tiny home online.
One user said: "When I saw the contents of this ambulance, it turned out to be very nice and interesting to fill in, very beautiful .. costing $10,000 is reasonable due to transportation I guess."
