People are only just realising that they’ve been using their washing machines all wrong – there’s a change you must make
WITH the bank holiday freeing up our spare time, now is the perfect time to plough your way through your laundry.
However, according to one expert plenty of us have been washing our clothes all wrong, and there’s a common mistake we’re all making.
Experts at Comfort have revealed that more than two thirds (69 per cent) of Brits are using their washing machine incorrectly by not knowing when to add fabric conditioner to their laundry.
Working best when added during the rinse cycle, over a third (34 per cent) of people have admitted to adding it during the pre-wash cycle – resulting in laundry not reaping the rewards of the softness created by the product.
But it isn't just the fabric conditioner that is wreaking havoc with your clothes.
Good Housekeeping's laundry expert Richard Wilkinson previously revealed that there are plenty of other things Brits get wrong when it comes to our clothes.

He shared the following tips...
1. Never use fabric softener on our towels, because it "makes them less absorbent".
2. Don't wash polyester clothes on high temperatures, or you'll never get the creases out.
3. Only wash underwired bras on the 'handwash' programme.

4. New clothes should only be washed with similar colours, to avoid running. We're not just talking about darks and whites - you may need to run a whole 'red wash'.
5. Wash clothes inside out to avoid bobbling.
Richard added: "If clothing is becoming bobbled, try delectably removing bobbles using sticky-tape or, or carefully use a razor blade."
