THIS is the moment the Red Arrows jets soared over Buckingham Palace in stunning footage captured from inside the cockpit.

The amazing performance from the RAF pilots saw grey cloudy skies in London transformed into red, white and blue.

Despite having to be scaled back due to the weather, thousands of royal fans including the Firm were in awe.

Footage captured by one of the pilots shows the jets surrounding him let out the multicoloured trail as they fly over central London.

More than 60 planes from the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, including the Red Arrows, were expected to fly over the Mall and Buckingham Palace at around 2.15pm following the ceremony.

But in reality the event only involved helicopters and the Red Arrows aerobatic display team.

The performance over The Mall and Buckingham Palace was originally meant to last for six minutes.

The scaled-down version lasted for less than half of that time.

A beaming King Charles waved at cheering crowds as he appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

The monarch was flanked by his family, including Queen Camilla, as the country celebrated the historic coronation ceremony.

Charles, 74, was cheered by thousands of royal fans to ring in his new reign as King.

The well-wishers refused to let the rain dampen their spirits as they were led along the Mall waving flags.
